Job Summary

The Revenue Accounting Manager plays a key leadership role in Emplifi’s Finance team leading our revenue accounting function and contributing to the management and optimization of the order to cash (OTC) process.  With one direct report, the Revenue Accounting Manager will work closely with Professional Services, Collections, Billing and FP&A to drive cross-functional projects, analyze revenue for accuracy and report on revenue trends and reconciliations.  You will represent Finance in partnering with Sales, Sales Ops, and Legal to support non-standard deal structuring (including approval of non-standard terms), identify revenue risks and advise on complicated revenue arrangements.  This role will ensure compliance with revenue policies and review contracts to ensure revenue is recorded in compliance with GAAP.

What You’ll Do Here

  • Own the revenue month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries, account analysis and reconciliation of deferred revenue and revenue accounts to deliver timely and accurate financial results
  • Work cross functionally to standardize revenue recognition procedures, drive process improvements and automation efforts to streamline accounting operations and improve quality of monthly closes, including influencing upstream OTC processes
  • Partner closely with FP&A on the revenue forecasting process and related reporting
  • Assist Controller to design, implement, and maintain/optimize key revenue controls
  • Review significant customer contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606; maintain data integrity of revenue and analyze revenue and ARR trends
  • Support global collection and billing teams with escalations and complex arrangements
  • Become NetSuite Revenue Management / SuiteBilling expert and build solid understanding around Emplifi’s revenue recognition setup, SalesForce integration and related rules.
  • Manage revenue team; continue to identify and drive process improvement opportunities and motivate team members
  • Ability to understand current state, identify gaps, propose and prioritize improvements and optimization opportunities, design future state, evaluate solution alternatives and drive consensus to achieve an agreed upon set of requirements and deliver the final solution related to the OTC process
  • Research and analyze technical accounting and financial reporting issues related to revenue, assess impact to organization, and formalize positions and recommendations within technical accounting memos
  • Prepare ad hoc analysis as requested and interface directly with external auditors.

 

What You’ll Bring to Us

  • BA/BS degree; CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of revenue recognition experience (strong preference for SaaS industry experience) with at least 1+ years of supervisory experience required
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, ASC 606, and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with NetSuite (and Revenue SuiteBilling) and Salesforce highly desirable
  • Strong organization and advanced analytical skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly resourceful, organized, and self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership in areas of responsibility
  • Strong time management skills to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • High degree of integrity and professionalism when handling sensitive financial information.
