Instagram has held steady: after 32.5 in July 2025 and a high of 33 in August 2025, it has stayed between 27 and 30 every month since. Facebook tells a different story. It slipped almost month by month from 25 in August 2025 to 16 in September 2026, its lowest point in the period.
Indexing each platform to its own 15-month peak makes the two easier to compare despite their different scales.
Instagram finished September 2026 at 85% of its August 2025 high. Facebook ended at 64% of its peak, the lowest reading for either platform in the period.
Impressions count how often posts were displayed, whether or not anyone interacted. They measure visibility, not engagement.
| Platform | Q3 2026 median post impressions |
|---|---|
| 2,742 | |
| 1,335 |
Instagram impressions are below 40% of their September 2025 peak of 7,192. Most of the fall came between October 2025 and February 2026, and the median has held between about 2,600 and 2,900 since April. Facebook impressions eased from 3,179 in July 2025 to 2,400 in July 2026, then fell to 1,335 in September. The decline is not specific to finance: median Facebook impressions for all brands in Asia Pacific fell from 3,431 in July 2025 to 1,669 in September 2026.
Median post engagement rates this quarter:
Across the quarter’s three months, Instagram’s median ranged from 1.24% to 1.42% and Facebook’s from 0.74% to 0.84%. Instagram’s rate climbed from a low of 0.87% in October 2025 to a high of 1.68% in June 2026 before easing. Facebook stayed in a narrow 0.71% to 0.85% band for the whole 15 months.
From this quarter, Emplifi calculates engagement rate from impressions instead of reach, because Facebook no longer provides reach data. These rates are therefore not comparable with the engagement rates in earlier quarterly reports.
Facebook: Live Video led with a median of 23 interactions per post, but it made up just 0.65% of finance brands’ Facebook posts in September. Status updates, links and Reels followed at 14 to 15. Photos, the format behind seven in 10 posts, earned the lowest median.
