What’s in this report

Middle East Markets ecommerce social media benchmarks for Q3 2026 show steady Instagram results and a weak Facebook response: the median ecommerce brand’s Instagram post earned 16 interactions in September, while the median Facebook post earned one, down from two in every earlier month of the period. Reels led on Instagram, and links and Live Video earned the most on Facebook.

This quarterly benchmarks report draws on Emplifi’s dataset of 210 Facebook pages and 220 Instagram profiles in the ecommerce category in Middle East Markets, covering July 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2026.

User-generated content: what’s achievable

Brands using Emplifi’s UGC solution saw these average uplifts in Q3 2026:

  • 11.49x conversion rate
  • 4.84x repeat website visits
  • 1.03x average order value

These are averages from Emplifi’s Worldwide Brands UGC benchmark, across 68 to 83 accounts per metric. The benchmark pools brands from every category and region, so the uplifts are not specific to ecommerce brands in Middle East Markets.

Organic performance: Facebook and Instagram

Interaction share by industry

Industrial brands and airlines account for about 90% of brand interactions on Facebook in Middle East Markets. Instagram is led by airlines at 36.3%. Ecommerce is the third-busiest category on Instagram, with 11.2% of brand posts, but it draws only 1.8% of interactions; on Facebook its 2.8% of posts bring in 0.3%.

Facebook interaction distribution (Q3 2026):

Category Share of total interactions
Industrial 48.4%
Airlines 42.0%
Telecom 5.1%
Services 1.4%
Finance 0.7%
Others 2.4%

Instagram interaction distribution (Q3 2026):

Category Share of total interactions
Airlines 36.3%
Services 12.4%
Auto 3.9%
Retail 2.8%
Finance 2.4%
Others 42.2%

The categories listed are those with the most brand posts in Middle East Markets. Others combines every remaining category, ecommerce included.

Platform landscape at a glance

The median ecommerce profile on Instagram has about twice the followers of the median Facebook page and posts 48 times a quarter against 39. It collected about 20 times the interactions over the quarter.

Metric Instagram Facebook
Median followers / fans 92,707 46,198
Median posts published (quarter) 48 39
Median total interactions (quarter) 2,027 102

Median post interactions

This is the middle-ranked brand each month, so a few viral posts can’t lift it.

Platform Q3 2026 median post interactions
Instagram 16
Facebook 1

Instagram has barely moved, staying between 16 and 18.5 for all 15 months. Facebook sat at two every month from July 2025 to August 2026, then dropped to one in September.

Relative median post interactions

Instagram finished September 2026 at 86% of its August 2025 high, level with its lowest reading. Facebook ended at 50% of its earlier level.

Median post impressions

Impressions count how many times posts were displayed, whether or not anyone interacted. Emplifi’s dataset has too few Middle East Markets ecommerce profiles with impression data this quarter, so the figures below are the Asia ecommerce medians, the series Emplifi uses for this region.

Platform Q3 2026 median post impressions
Instagram 5,457
Facebook 3,511

On that Asia series, Facebook impressions fell to 3,511 in September 2026, the lowest month of the period and down from 5,701 in December 2025. Instagram impressions have held between about 4,700 and 7,500 throughout, peaking in November 2025.

Engagement rate trends

Median post engagement rates this quarter (Asia ecommerce medians):

  • Instagram: up to 1.08%
  • Facebook: up to 0.29%

These rates also come from the Asia ecommerce series, so they are not one sample with the Middle East Markets interaction figures. Across Q3, Instagram’s median ranged from 0.83% to 1.08% and Facebook’s from 0.23% to 0.29%. Both peaked in April 2026, at 1.21% and 0.35%, and Facebook’s September rate was the lowest of the 15 months.

From this quarter, Emplifi calculates engagement rate from impressions instead of reach, because Facebook no longer provides reach data. These rates are therefore not comparable with the engagement rates in earlier quarterly reports.

Best-performing post types

Facebook: Links earned a median of nine interactions and Live Video 8.5, far ahead of status updates, Reels and photos, which earned one to 2.5. Both formats are rare: links were 2.1% of ecommerce brands’ Facebook posts in September and Live Video 0.68%.

Instagram: Reels led, single images came second and carousels came last, an unusual order.

Full organic post type performance (Q3 2026):

Post type Platform Median post interactions
Link Facebook 9
Live Video Facebook 8.5
Status Facebook 2.5
Reel Facebook 2
Photo Facebook 1
Reel Instagram 22
Image Instagram 16.5
Carousel Instagram 11.5

Post type distribution trends:

Reels rose from 17.5% of ecommerce brands’ Facebook posts in July 2025 to 39.7% in September 2026, with the biggest jump between September and October 2025. Photos fell from 64.6% to 54.4% and status updates from 14.9% to 2.2%. Cost trends over time

Emplifi’s trend files have no series of their own for Middle East Markets, so the table compares the ecommerce ad benchmark with Emplifi’s all-brands benchmark. Figures are for September 2026, with the quarter’s monthly range:

Metric Ecommerce ad benchmark All-brands benchmark
CPM (USD) 2.86 (2.29 to 2.86) 2.09 (1.83 to 2.09)
CTR (%) 2.01 (1.78 to 2.01) 1.13 (1.06 to 1.13)

Ecommerce advertising cost more than the all-brands average in September, a CPM of $2.86 against $2.09, but drew far more clicks, a CTR of 2.01% against 1.13%. Both ecommerce figures were the highest of the 15 months; the ecommerce CPM has risen from a low of $2.10 in August 2025. The all-brands CTR also reached a period high. No monthly CPC series is available.

Methodology

This report is produced quarterly from Emplifi’s proprietary social media dataset, drawn from the platform used by more than 22,000 brands worldwide.

Data collection: Data is pulled once per quarter and reflects the state of Emplifi’s database at the start of the quarter following the period analyzed. It is not updated between releases.

Sample: 210 Facebook brand pages and 220 Instagram brand profiles in the ecommerce category in Middle East Markets, July 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2026.

Reporting period: Monthly metrics are reported for September 2026, the final month of the quarter, and trend commentary covers July 2025 through September 2026. The ads trend series also covers July 2025 through September 2026.

Minimum thresholds: Reports require a minimum of 50 Instagram profiles and 50 Facebook pages for a given region and industry combination. Interaction distribution data requires a minimum of 300 profiles. Ad benchmarks require a minimum of 200 active ad accounts from the region or industry.

Key definitions

  • Interactions (Facebook): Sum of all reactions (Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sorry, Anger), comments and shares on brand-published posts. Care reactions are counted under Likes.
  • Interactions (Instagram): Sum of likes, comments, saves, shares and reposts on brand-published posts. Saves, shares and reposts are counted from Q3 2026.
  • Median post interactions: The middle-ranked page or profile when sorted by monthly post interactions. It represents typical performance rather than an average, so outliers don’t skew the figure.
  • Relative median interactions: Median interactions indexed to the maximum value in the reporting period for each platform, expressed as a percentage. Useful for comparing direction across platforms at different absolute scales.
  • Impressions: The number of times a post was displayed, whether or not anyone interacted with it. Reflects visibility rather than engagement.
  • Engagement rate: Interactions divided by impressions, expressed as a percentage. From Q3 2026 the rate is based on impressions instead of reach, because Facebook no longer provides reach data, so it is not comparable with earlier quarters.
  • Organic: Posts not paid to be promoted, detected using Emplifi’s internal algorithm with near-100% accuracy.
  • CPC / CPM: Median cost per click and cost per thousand impressions across all available ad accounts, shown for the top five placements by relative spend.
  • Relative spend: Normalized distribution (%) showing the average share of an account’s budget allocated to each placement.
  • CTR: Median click-through rate for the top five placements by relative spend.

All costs are in USD. All figures are medians unless otherwise noted; UGC uplifts are averages. Data is first normalized at the profile or page level before aggregation.
