Asia Pacific airline social media benchmarks for Q3 2026 show Instagram posts earning about seven times as much as Facebook posts: the median airline in Asia Pacific earned 272 interactions per Instagram post in September, against 39 on Facebook. Median engagement reached up to 1.88% on Instagram and up to 1.43% on Facebook across the quarter. Reels led on Instagram, links were the strongest everyday format on Facebook, and Malaysia Airlines produced five of the quarter’s six top posts.
This quarterly benchmarks report draws on Emplifi’s dataset of 161 Facebook pages and 54 Instagram profiles in the Asia Pacific airlines category, covering July 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2026.
Brands using Emplifi’s UGC solution saw these average uplifts in Q3 2026:
The figures come from Emplifi’s Worldwide Brands UGC benchmark, averaged across 68 to 83 accounts per metric. That benchmark covers brands in every category and region worldwide, so it is not specific to airline brands in Asia Pacific.
Ecommerce dominates brand interactions in Asia Pacific. On Facebook it collects 59.0% of all brand interactions from 11.9% of brand posts. On Instagram it takes 38.7%, almost three times electronics in second place.

Instagram moves around from month to month, between a low of 200 in September 2025 and a high of 352 in March 2026, and closed Q3 at 272. Facebook has trended down, from a peak of 64.5 in August 2025 to 39 in September 2026, its lowest month of the period.
Indexing each platform to its own 15-month peak makes the two easier to compare despite their different scales.
Instagram ended September 2026 at 77% of its March 2026 high. Facebook finished at 60% of its August 2025 peak, the lowest point of the period for either platform.
Impressions count how often posts were displayed, whether or not anyone interacted. They measure visibility, not engagement.
| Platform | Q3 2026 median post impressions |
|---|---|
| 2,491 (August) | |
| 34,136 |
The export has no September Instagram impressions or engagement rate for Asia Pacific airlines, so the Instagram figures in this section and the next cover July and August. Instagram impressions fell from 9,834 in August 2025 to 2,491 in August 2026, the lowest month of the period. Facebook impressions swing widely in this small sample, from 2,898 in February 2026 to 59,404 in July 2025, so treat any single month with care.
Median post engagement rates this quarter:
Instagram’s median was 1.88% in July and 1.85% in August. Facebook’s ranged from 1.03% to 1.43% across the quarter’s three months, falling each month. Over the 15 months both rates moved without a clear trend: Instagram between 0.82% and 2.65%, Facebook between 0.71% and 1.71%.
From this quarter, Emplifi calculates engagement rate from impressions instead of reach, because Facebook no longer provides reach data. These rates are therefore not comparable with the engagement rates in earlier quarterly reports.
Facebook: Live Video drew a median of 481 interactions, but airlines almost never use it (0.02% of posts in September). Links were the standout everyday format at 135.5, almost four times a Reel, even though they make up about 3% of posts. Photos, the most-used format, earned the least.
Instagram: Reels led at 334 interactions. Single images came second at 288.5, ahead of carousels at 228.
