Worldwide Social Media Benchmarks: Beer Q2 2026

Emplifi Team Social Media Marketing Experts

What’s in this report

In Q2 2026, Beer brands worldwide saw Instagram engagement rates hovering around 3.6% — well above Facebook’s roughly 1.0% — with Carousel and Live Video posts driving the strongest organic results on their respective platforms. Beer remains a niche category relative to total social interactions (1.4% of Facebook brand interactions and 0.7% on Instagram), but top performers like Hanuman Beer, Cerveza Aguila, and Corona still generated multi-million-interaction quarters.

This quarterly benchmarks report pulls from Emplifi’s dataset of 1,636 Facebook pages and 1,102 Instagram profiles across Worldwide, covering April 1, 2026 through June 30, 2026.

User-generated content: what’s achievable

These figures represent the median uplift seen across Emplifi’s Brands UGC Accounts Benchmark for Q2 2026.

On Facebook, Ecommerce accounts for 27.5% of total brand interactions — the highest share of any category. On Instagram, Ecommerce also leads with 37.4% of interactions. Beer itself sits well outside the top categories: within Emplifi’s broader Alcohol classification, Beer brands account for a modest 1.4% share of total Facebook interactions and 0.7% on Instagram, reflecting the category’s smaller footprint compared to consumer giants like Ecommerce and Retail.

Services 10.8%
Finance 6.1%
Electronics 5.8%
Others 26.3%

Platform landscape at a glance

In Worldwide, Instagram brand profiles carry a lower median follower count than Facebook pages for Beer brands specifically. The figures below reflect relative positioning across all profiles in the sample at the end of Q2 2026.

Metric Instagram Facebook
Median followers / fans Lower Higher
Median posts published (quarter) Higher Lower
Median total interactions (quarter) Higher Lower

Activity volume is higher on Instagram than on Facebook for Beer brands, while user engagement on Instagram also outpaces Facebook by a wide margin.

Median post interactions

Median post interactions track the middle-ranked page or profile by monthly interactions — a measure of typical performance rather than outlier peaks.

Platform Q2 2026 median post interactions
Instagram ~50
Facebook ~15

Instagram median post interactions started near 63 in mid-2025, drifted down through the back half of the year, and settled in the high-40s to low-50s range by Q2 2026. Facebook held much flatter and lower throughout, moving in a narrow 15–22 band across the full period.

Relative median post interactions

Relative median interactions index each platform’s performance against its own peak over the reporting period, making it easier to compare directional trends across platforms regardless of absolute scale.

By Q2 2026, both platforms had pulled back from their respective peaks — Instagram sat around 65% of its high point after a mid-year dip to roughly 75% in late 2025, while Facebook also eased to about 65% of its peak after holding in the 80–95% range for most of the prior year.

Median post impressions

Impressions measure how many times posts were displayed, regardless of interaction. This metric is available for both platforms and reflects reach rather than engagement.

Platform Q2 2026 median post impressions
Instagram ~2,800–3,200
Facebook ~1,300

Instagram impressions climbed sharply through mid-2025, peaking near 7,000 in September before pulling back steadily to around 3,000 by Q2 2026 — likely reflecting Reels distribution patterns earlier in the year. Facebook impressions stayed comparatively flat and low throughout, ending the period near 1,300.

Engagement rate trends

Median post engagement rates this quarter:

  • Instagram: ~3.6%
  • Facebook: ~1.0%

Instagram engagement has stayed fairly stable across the past year, fluctuating in a 3.2%–4.0% band without a clear directional trend. Facebook engagement has held broadly steady as well, in the 0.7%–1.0% range, ending Q2 2026 near the top of that range.

Best-performing post types

Facebook: Live Video and Link posts lead organic performance. In Q2 2026, Live Video generated a median of 47 post interactions, while Link posts reached 12.

Instagram: Carousel and Image posts lead organic performance. Carousels generated a median of 67 post interactions this quarter; Images reached 46.

Full organic post type performance (Q2 2026):

Photo Facebook (lower)
Reel Facebook (lower)
Status Facebook (lower)

Carousel Instagram 67

Post type distribution trends:

On Facebook, Photo remains the dominant post format at around 62–70% of posts, though Reels have gained steady share — rising from near zero in mid-2025 to approximately 30% by Q2 2026. On Instagram, Image and Reel posts each account for roughly 35–40% of posts published, trading the top spot over the year, with Carousels holding a steadier ~20–24% share.

How to use these benchmarks

These figures represent median performance across thousands of brand profiles in Emplifi’s dataset — they’re a useful calibration point, not a ceiling. If your Beer brand’s Instagram engagement rate is sitting above 3.6%, you’re already ahead of the median for Worldwide brands; below it, there’s likely room to lean further into Carousel and Image content, which continue to outperform other formats.

Frequently asked questions

Instagram. Across 30 industries, Instagram posts got higher user engagement than Facebook posts — with no exceptions. Instagram also led on activity volume (post frequency) in most verticals, and ran neck-and-neck with Facebook in the rest. If you’re deciding where to focus organic effort this quarter, Instagram is the stronger channel almost everywhere.

Reels and carousels. In nearly every industry we benchmarked, these two formats drove the highest median post interactions, often by a wide margin over photos and stories. Which one wins first place varies by industry, but the reel-carousel pairing is the consistent pattern.

The Facebook feed. It had the lowest cost per click worldwide, with Facebook Reels close behind as the second-cheapest placement. Instagram Stories was the lowest-CPC Instagram placement, but still came in behind both Facebook options.

E-commerce, by a wide margin — accounting for 37.4% of all brand-profile interactions on Instagram and 27.5% on Facebook. Retail and services follow as the next-largest categories on both platforms, with fashion also ranking high on Instagram specifically.

Brands using UGC saw a 19.88x increase in conversion rate, a 5.06x increase in website visits, and a 1.08x increase in average order value, compared to brands that don’t (Emplifi Brands UGC benchmark, Q2 2026). Conversion rate is where UGC makes the biggest difference.
