Emplifi Team Social Media Marketing Experts

What’s in this report

In Q2 2026, Accommodation brands in Middle East Markets saw median Instagram engagement rates approach 3.0%, while Facebook engagement trailed at around 1.6%. Live Video remained the clear standout on Facebook, while Reels and Carousels led organic performance on Instagram. On the paid side, Facebook feed delivered the lowest CPC and the highest CTR of any placement, even though the bulk of ad spend continues to flow to Instagram feed and Instagram Reels.

This quarterly benchmarks report pulls from Emplifi’s dataset of 502 Facebook pages and 338 Instagram profiles across Middle East Markets, covering April 1, 2026 through June 30, 2026.

Platform landscape at a glance

In Middle East Markets, the median number of Instagram followers for Accommodation accounts is almost the same as the median number of Facebook fans. The chart behind this comparison doesn’t carry printed numeric labels, so the figures below reflect the relative (not absolute) comparison Emplifi’s data shows.

Metric Instagram Facebook
Median followers / fans Roughly on par with Facebook (no absolute figure labeled in source chart) Roughly on par with Instagram (no absolute figure labeled in source chart)
Median posts published (quarter) Higher than Facebook (relative comparison only) Lower than Instagram (relative comparison only)
Median total interactions (quarter) Higher than Facebook (relative comparison only) Lower than Instagram (relative comparison only)

Activity volume on both platforms is higher on Instagram than Facebook, while user engagement on Instagram also outpaces Facebook.

Median post interactions

Median post interactions track the middle-ranked page or profile by monthly interactions — a measure of typical performance rather than outlier peaks.

Platform Q2 2026 median post interactions
Instagram 19
Facebook 4

Instagram median post interactions declined steadily from around 34 in May 2025 to about 19 by Q2 2026, with a brief uptick in February 2026. Facebook held broadly flat and low across the full period, hovering in the 4-6 range throughout.

Relative median post interactions

Relative median interactions index each platform’s performance against its own peak over the reporting period, making it easier to compare directional trends across platforms regardless of absolute scale.

By Q2 2026, Facebook’s relative median interactions sat at around 66% of its 12-month peak, while Instagram had slipped further to about 55% of its own peak — both platforms trending downward from their mid-2025 highs.

Median post impressions

Impressions measure how many times posts were displayed, regardless of interaction. This metric is available for both platforms and reflects reach rather than engagement.

Platform Q2 2026 median post impressions
Instagram 1,500
Facebook 1,250

Instagram impressions climbed sharply from mid-2025, peaking at around 6,300 in August 2025, before declining steadily to approximately 1,500 by Q2 2026. Facebook impressions remained low and comparatively flat throughout the period, ending near 1,250.

Median post engagement rates this quarter:

  • Instagram: ~3.0%
  • Facebook: ~1.6%

Instagram engagement trended gradually upward over the past year, ending Q2 2026 near its highest point of the period. Facebook engagement also edged upward over the same stretch, but remained under 2% throughout.

Best-performing post types

Facebook: Live Video and standard Video continue to outperform other formats organically. In Q2 2026, Live Video generated a median of 23 post interactions, while standard Video reached 3.

Instagram: Carousel and Reel posts lead organic performance. Carousels generated a median of 23 post interactions this quarter; Reels reached 27.

Full organic post type performance (Q2 2026):

Live Video Facebook 23
Video Facebook 3

Reel Facebook 8
Status Facebook 7

Post type distribution trends:

On Instagram, Reels, Images, and Carousels each account for roughly a third of posts published, with Reels and Carousels driving the majority of top-performing content.

How to use these benchmarks

These figures represent median performance across thousands of brand profiles in Emplifi’s dataset — they’re a useful calibration point, not a ceiling. If your Instagram engagement rate is sitting above 3.0%, you’re already ahead of the median for Middle East Markets accommodation brands; below it, there are likely content-mix improvements worth testing, particularly around Reels and Carousels.

Methodology

This report is produced quarterly using Emplifi’s proprietary social media dataset — one of the largest in the industry, drawn from the platform used by more than 20,000 brands worldwide.

Data collection: Data is pulled once per quarter and reflects the state of Emplifi’s database at the start of the quarter following the period analyzed. It is not updated between releases.

Sample: 502 Facebook brand pages and 338 Instagram brand profiles in Middle East Markets, April 1, 2026–June 30, 2026.

Minimum thresholds: Reports require a minimum of 50 Instagram profiles and 50 Facebook pages for a given region and industry combination. Interaction distribution data requires a minimum of 300 profiles. Ad benchmarks require a minimum of 200 active ad accounts from the region or industry.

Key definitions

  • Interactions (Facebook): Sum of all reactions (Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sorry, Anger), comments, and shares on brand-published posts. Care reactions are counted under Likes.
  • Interactions (Instagram): Sum of likes and comments on brand-published posts.
  • Median post interactions: The middle-ranked page or profile when sorted by monthly post interactions. Represents typical performance, not average — so outliers don’t skew the figure.
  • Relative median interactions: Median interactions indexed to the maximum value in the reporting period for each platform, expressed as a percentage. Useful for comparing directional trends across platforms at different absolute scales.
  • Impressions: The number of times a post was displayed, regardless of whether it was interacted with. Reflects reach rather than engagement.
  • Engagement rate: Interactions divided by follower/fan count, expressed as a percentage.
  • Organic: Posts not paid to be promoted, detected using Emplifi’s internal algorithm with near-100% accuracy.
  • CPC / CPM: Median cost per click and cost per thousand impressions across all available ad accounts, shown for the top 5 placements by relative spend.
  • Relative spend: Normalized distribution (%) showing the average share of an account’s budget allocated to each placement.
  • CTR: Median click-through rate for the top 5 placements by relative spend.

All costs are in USD. All figures are medians unless otherwise noted. Data is first normalized at the profile/page level before aggregation.

Frequently asked questions

Instagram. Across 30 industries, Instagram posts got higher user engagement than Facebook posts — with no exceptions. Instagram also led on activity volume (post frequency) in most verticals, and ran neck-and-neck with Facebook in the rest. If you’re deciding where to focus organic effort this quarter, Instagram is the stronger channel almost everywhere.

Reels and carousels. In nearly every industry we benchmarked, these two formats drove the highest median post interactions, often by a wide margin over photos and stories. Which one wins first place varies by industry, but the reel-carousel pairing is the consistent pattern.

The Facebook feed. It had the lowest cost per click worldwide, with Facebook Reels close behind as the second-cheapest placement. Instagram Stories was the lowest-CPC Instagram placement, but still came in behind both Facebook options.

E-commerce, by a wide margin — accounting for 37.4% of all brand-profile interactions on Instagram and 27.5% on Facebook. Retail and services follow as the next-largest categories on both platforms, with fashion also ranking high on Instagram specifically.

Brands using UGC saw a 19.88x increase in conversion rate, a 5.06x increase in website visits, and a 1.08x increase in average order value, compared to brands that don’t (Emplifi Brands UGC benchmark, Q2 2026). Conversion rate is where UGC makes the biggest difference.
