Asia Pacific Social Media Benchmarks: Electronics Q2 2026

Emplifi Team Social Media Marketing Experts

What’s in this report

In Q2 2026, Electronics brands in Asia Pacific saw Instagram user engagement clearly outpace Facebook, with median engagement rates of around 2.25% versus roughly 1.02%. Ecommerce, not Electronics, still dominates interaction share on both platforms — Electronics ranks 5th on both Facebook and Instagram — while Live Video, Carousels, and Reels remained the strongest-performing organic formats. On the paid side, Electronics-specific ad accounts ran notably higher CPC and CPM than the Asia Pacific market overall, though CTR was broadly comparable.

This quarterly benchmarks report pulls from Emplifi’s dataset of 1,405 Facebook pages and 565 Instagram profiles across Asia Pacific, covering April 1, 2026 through June 30, 2026.

Platform landscape at a glance

In Asia Pacific, Electronics Instagram brand profiles carry a lower median follower count than Facebook pages. The source chart for this comparison (a bubble chart) does not print exact figures — only relative bubble sizes — so the table below reflects the deck’s own directional findings rather than precise counts.

Metric Instagram Facebook
Median followers / fans Lower Higher
Median posts published (quarter) Higher Lower
Median total interactions (quarter) Higher Lower

Activity volume on both platforms is higher on Instagram than on Facebook, while user engagement on Instagram also outpaces Facebook.

Median post interactions

Median post interactions track the middle-ranked page or profile by monthly interactions — a measure of typical performance rather than outlier peaks.

Platform Q2 2026 median post interactions
Instagram 23
Facebook 12

Instagram median post interactions held in the low-to-mid 20s range for most of the past year, dipping to around 22 in early 2026 before recovering slightly to 23 by Q2 2026. Facebook stayed lower and comparatively flat, closing the period at around 12.

Relative median post interactions

Relative median interactions index each platform’s performance against its own peak over the reporting period, making it easier to compare directional trends across platforms regardless of absolute scale.

By Q2 2026, both platforms had drifted down from their earlier peaks — Instagram sat at roughly 77% of its peak and Facebook at roughly 70% of its peak, after both platforms briefly converged in the high-80s range around March 2026.

Median post impressions

Impressions measure how many times posts were displayed, regardless of interaction. This metric is available for both platforms and reflects reach rather than engagement.

Platform Q2 2026 median post impressions
Instagram 1,280
Facebook 2,380

Facebook impressions climbed to a peak of around 3,700 in September 2025 before settling into a steadier 2,400–3,000 range through Q2 2026. Instagram impressions also peaked around September 2025 (roughly 3,250) but fell more sharply afterward, ending the period at around 1,280 — well below Facebook’s reach despite Instagram’s stronger engagement.

Median post engagement rates this quarter:

  • Instagram: ~2.25%
  • Facebook: ~1.02%

Instagram engagement has stayed in a fairly narrow band (roughly 2.0%–2.6%) all year, while Facebook engagement has held closer to 0.75%–1.0%, ticking up slightly to just over 1% by Q2 2026.

Best-performing post types

Facebook: Live Video and standard Video continue to outperform other formats organically. In Q2 2026, Live Video generated a median of 39 post interactions, while standard Video reached 8.

Instagram: Carousel and Reel posts lead organic performance. Carousels generated a median of 30 post interactions this quarter; Reels reached 28.

Full organic post type performance (Q2 2026):

Video Facebook 8
Photo Facebook 9
Reel Facebook 8
Status Facebook 10

Post type distribution trends:

On Facebook, Photo remains the dominant post format at around 61% of posts, though Reels are gaining share steadily — rising from near zero earlier in the year to approximately 32% by Q2 2026. On Instagram, Reels, Images, and Carousels each account for roughly a third of posts published, with Reels and Carousels driving the majority of top-performing content.

How to use these benchmarks

These figures represent median performance across thousands of brand profiles in Emplifi’s dataset — they’re a useful calibration point, not a ceiling. If your Instagram engagement rate for electronics content is above roughly 2.25%, you’re ahead of the Asia Pacific median; if your Facebook paid CPC or CPM is running close to the region-wide figures rather than the higher Electronics-specific benchmark, your electronics ad spend may be more efficient than the category norm.

Methodology

This report is produced quarterly using Emplifi’s proprietary social media dataset — one of the largest in the industry, drawn from the platform used by more than 20,000 brands worldwide.

Data collection: Data is pulled once per quarter and reflects the state of Emplifi’s database at the start of the quarter following the period analyzed. It is not updated between releases.

Sample: 1,405 Facebook brand pages and 565 Instagram brand profiles in Asia Pacific, April 1, 2026–June 30, 2026.

Minimum thresholds: Reports require a minimum of 50 Instagram profiles and 50 Facebook pages for a given region and industry combination. Interaction distribution data requires a minimum of 300 profiles. Ad benchmarks require a minimum of 200 active ad accounts from the region or industry.

Key definitions

  • Interactions (Facebook): Sum of all reactions (Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sorry, Anger), comments, and shares on brand-published posts. Care reactions are counted under Likes.
  • Interactions (Instagram): Sum of likes and comments on brand-published posts.
  • Median post interactions: The middle-ranked page or profile when sorted by monthly post interactions. Represents typical performance, not average — so outliers don’t skew the figure.
  • Relative median interactions: Median interactions indexed to the maximum value in the reporting period for each platform, expressed as a percentage. Useful for comparing directional trends across platforms at different absolute scales.
  • Impressions: The number of times a post was displayed, regardless of whether it was interacted with. Reflects reach rather than engagement.
  • Engagement rate: Interactions divided by follower/fan count, expressed as a percentage.
  • Organic: Posts not paid to be promoted, detected using Emplifi’s internal algorithm with near-100% accuracy.
  • CPC / CPM: Median cost per click and cost per thousand impressions across all available ad accounts, shown for the top 5 placements by relative spend.
  • Relative spend: Normalized distribution (%) showing the average share of an account’s budget allocated to each placement.
  • CTR: Median click-through rate for the top 5 placements by relative spend.

All costs are in USD. All figures are medians unless otherwise noted. Data is first normalized at the profile/page level before aggregation.

Frequently asked questions

Instagram. Across 30 industries, Instagram posts got higher user engagement than Facebook posts — with no exceptions. Instagram also led on activity volume (post frequency) in most verticals, and ran neck-and-neck with Facebook in the rest. If you’re deciding where to focus organic effort this quarter, Instagram is the stronger channel almost everywhere.

Reels and carousels. In nearly every industry we benchmarked, these two formats drove the highest median post interactions, often by a wide margin over photos and stories. Which one wins first place varies by industry, but the reel-carousel pairing is the consistent pattern.

The Facebook feed. It had the lowest cost per click worldwide, with Facebook Reels close behind as the second-cheapest placement. Instagram Stories was the lowest-CPC Instagram placement, but still came in behind both Facebook options.

E-commerce, by a wide margin — accounting for 37.4% of all brand-profile interactions on Instagram and 27.5% on Facebook. Retail and services follow as the next-largest categories on both platforms, with fashion also ranking high on Instagram specifically.

Brands using UGC saw a 19.88x increase in conversion rate, a 5.06x increase in website visits, and a 1.08x increase in average order value, compared to brands that don’t (Emplifi Brands UGC benchmark, Q2 2026). Conversion rate is where UGC makes the biggest difference.
