Asia Pacific Social Media Benchmarks: Entertainment Q2 2026

Emplifi Team Social Media Marketing Experts

What’s in this report

In Q2 2026, Entertainment brands in Asia Pacific saw median Instagram post engagement rates of around 2.9%, while Facebook trailed at roughly 1.0%. Carousel and Reel posts drove the strongest organic performance on Instagram, while Live Video led on Facebook, and Ecommerce continued to dominate overall interaction share across the region on both platforms.

This quarterly benchmarks report pulls from Emplifi’s dataset of 2,648 Facebook pages and 1,598 Instagram profiles across Asia Pacific, covering April 1, 2026 through June 30, 2026.

User-generated content: what’s achievable

Brands using Emplifi’s UGC solution this quarter saw:

  • 19.88x increase in conversion rate
  • 5.06x increase in website visits
  • 1.08x increase in average order value

These figures represent the median uplift seen across Emplifi’s Brands UGC Accounts Benchmark for Q2 2026. Note: this quarter’s deck labels its UGC slide as a “Global UGC Accounts Benchmark” (not an Entertainment-specific one) and shows slightly different figures — 18.95x conversion, 4.97x website visits, 1.08x AOV — but per Emplifi’s cross-industry-verified benchmark protocol, the figures above are used since this slide is not industry-specific.

Platform landscape at a glance

In Asia Pacific, Instagram brand profiles carry a higher median follower count than Facebook pages carry in fans for Entertainment brands. Note: the source slide for this section (“Social Media Landscape”) presents these comparisons as relative bubble-size visuals without printed absolute values, so the table below reflects qualitative direction rather than exact figures.

Metric Instagram Facebook
Median followers / fans Higher Lower
Median posts published (quarter) Lower Higher
Median total interactions (quarter) Higher Lower

Activity volume is lower on Instagram than on Facebook, while user engagement on Instagram outpaces Facebook.

Median post interactions

Median post interactions track the middle-ranked page or profile by monthly interactions — a measure of typical performance rather than outlier peaks.

Platform Q2 2026 median post interactions
Instagram ~615
Facebook ~35

Instagram median post interactions fluctuated between roughly 570 and 770 over the past year, dipping to a low near 570 in November 2025 before climbing back to a peak of around 730 in April/May 2026 and easing to about 615 by the end of Q2. Facebook median post interactions stayed essentially flat and low, hovering in the 30–45 range throughout the period.

Relative median post interactions

Relative median interactions index each platform’s performance against its own peak over the reporting period, making it easier to compare directional trends across platforms regardless of absolute scale.

By the end of Q2 2026, Facebook’s relative median interactions had fallen to around 68% of its own peak — its lowest point in the period — after holding near 90-100% for most of the year. Instagram’s relative interactions ended around 80%, having peaked near 95% in April 2026.

Median post impressions

Impressions measure how many times posts were displayed, regardless of interaction. This metric is available for both platforms and reflects reach rather than engagement.

Platform Q2 2026 median post impressions
Instagram ~5,900
Facebook ~3,900

Instagram impressions climbed steadily from around 3,400 in April 2025 to a peak near 11,500 in September 2025, then pulled back sharply and settled into a 5,000–8,000 range for the rest of the period, ending around 5,900 in Q2 2026. Facebook impressions moved more modestly, peaking near 8,500 in August 2025 before ending Q2 2026 at around 3,900.

Median post engagement rates this quarter:

  • Instagram: ~2.9%
  • Facebook: ~1.0%

Instagram engagement has stayed in a fairly narrow band between about 2.7% and 3.7% over the past year, ending Q2 2026 around 2.9% after a brief spike near 3.7% in December 2025. Facebook engagement has held mostly flat between 0.7% and 1.0%, ending the quarter at roughly 1.0%.

Best-performing post types

Instagram: Carousel and Reel posts lead organic performance. Carousels generated a median of 824 post interactions this quarter; Reels reached 758.

How to use these benchmarks

These figures represent median performance across thousands of brand profiles in Emplifi’s dataset — they’re a useful calibration point, not a ceiling. If your Instagram engagement rate is sitting above roughly 2.9%, you’re already ahead of the median for Asia Pacific Entertainment brands; below it, there’s likely room to test content-mix changes, especially around Carousel and Reel formats.

Methodology

This report is produced quarterly using Emplifi’s proprietary social media dataset — one of the largest in the industry, drawn from the platform used by more than 20,000 brands worldwide.

Data collection: Data is pulled once per quarter and reflects the state of Emplifi’s database at the start of the quarter following the period analyzed. It is not updated between releases.

Sample: 2,648 Facebook brand pages and 1,598 Instagram brand profiles in Asia Pacific, April 1, 2026–June 30, 2026.

Minimum thresholds: Reports require a minimum of 50 Instagram profiles and 50 Facebook pages for a given region and industry combination. Interaction distribution data requires a minimum of 300 profiles. Ad benchmarks require a minimum of 200 active ad accounts from the region or industry.

Key definitions

  • Interactions (Facebook): Sum of all reactions (Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sorry, Anger), comments, and shares on brand-published posts. Care reactions are counted under Likes.
  • Interactions (Instagram): Sum of likes and comments on brand-published posts.
  • Median post interactions: The middle-ranked page or profile when sorted by monthly post interactions. Represents typical performance, not average — so outliers don’t skew the figure.
  • Relative median interactions: Median interactions indexed to the maximum value in the reporting period for each platform, expressed as a percentage. Useful for comparing directional trends across platforms at different absolute scales.
  • Impressions: The number of times a post was displayed, regardless of whether it was interacted with. Reflects reach rather than engagement.
  • Engagement rate: Interactions divided by follower/fan count, expressed as a percentage.
  • Organic: Posts not paid to be promoted, detected using Emplifi’s internal algorithm with near-100% accuracy.
  • CPC / CPM: Median cost per click and cost per thousand impressions across all available ad accounts, shown for the top 5 placements by relative spend.
  • Relative spend: Normalized distribution (%) showing the average share of an account’s budget allocated to each placement.
  • CTR: Median click-through rate for the top 5 placements by relative spend.

All costs are in USD. All figures are medians unless otherwise noted. Data is first normalized at the profile/page level before aggregation.

Frequently asked questions

Instagram. Across 30 industries, Instagram posts got higher user engagement than Facebook posts — with no exceptions. Instagram also led on activity volume (post frequency) in most verticals, and ran neck-and-neck with Facebook in the rest. If you’re deciding where to focus organic effort this quarter, Instagram is the stronger channel almost everywhere.

Reels and carousels. In nearly every industry we benchmarked, these two formats drove the highest median post interactions, often by a wide margin over photos and stories. Which one wins first place varies by industry, but the reel-carousel pairing is the consistent pattern.

The Facebook feed. It had the lowest cost per click worldwide, with Facebook Reels close behind as the second-cheapest placement. Instagram Stories was the lowest-CPC Instagram placement, but still came in behind both Facebook options.

E-commerce, by a wide margin — accounting for 37.4% of all brand-profile interactions on Instagram and 27.5% on Facebook. Retail and services follow as the next-largest categories on both platforms, with fashion also ranking high on Instagram specifically.

Brands using UGC saw a 19.88x increase in conversion rate, a 5.06x increase in website visits, and a 1.08x increase in average order value, compared to brands that don’t (Emplifi Brands UGC benchmark, Q2 2026). Conversion rate is where UGC makes the biggest difference.
