In Latin America, Instagram FMCG Food profiles carry a lower median follower count than Facebook pages — the reverse of the pattern seen in some other regions. The chart below reflects relative comparisons across all profiles in the sample at the end of Q2 2026; Emplifi’s underlying chart for this view does not publish exact median figures, only relative (bubble-size) comparisons, so directional language is used instead of point estimates.
| Metric | ||
|---|---|---|
| Median followers / fans | Lower | Higher |
| Median posts published (quarter) | Roughly comparable | Roughly comparable |
| Median total interactions (quarter) | Higher | Lower |
Activity volume on both platforms is roughly comparable, while user engagement on Instagram outpaces Facebook.

Instagram median post interactions held in the 30s-40s range for most of the past year, dipping briefly to around 30 in December 2025 before recovering; by June 2026 it settled back near 31. Relative median interactions index each platform’s performance against its own peak over the reporting period, making it easier to compare directional trends across platforms regardless of absolute scale.
By Q2 2026, Facebook’s relative median interactions had fallen to around 70% of its own peak (from a high of 100% mid-2025), while Instagram remained closer to its peak at around 80%, after also dipping to roughly 77% in December 2025.

Q2 2026 ad cost benchmarks for Latin America — this industry clears Emplifi’s 200-active-ad-account threshold on its own, so a dedicated FMCG Food benchmark exists alongside the region-wide figures:
| Metric | Brands benchmark | Latin America overall |
|---|---|---|
| CPC (USD) | 0.34 | 0.085 |
| CPM (USD) | 1.06 | 0.74 |

FMCG Food-specific CPC fluctuated between roughly $0.23 and $0.39 over the past year, ending Q2 2026 at about $0.34 — noticeably higher than the Latin America-wide figure, which stayed flat in the $0.07–$0.10 range throughout and ended at approximately $0.085. CPM followed a similar pattern: FMCG Food ranged from about $0.83 to $1.13, ending near $1.06, versus $0.56–$0.74 for Latin America overall. CTR told the opposite story — FMCG Food’s CTR stayed low and flat around 0.22–0.28%, ending at 0.25%, while Latin America’s overall CTR climbed steadily from around 0.81% to a plateau near 0.95–0.99%, ending Q2 2026 at approximately 0.95%.
These figures represent median performance across thousands of brand profiles in Emplifi’s dataset — they’re a useful calibration point, not a ceiling. If your Instagram engagement rate for FMCG Food content is sitting above 4.4%, you’re already ahead of the median for Latin America brands; below it, there are likely content-mix improvements worth testing, particularly around Reels and Carousels.
This report is produced quarterly using Emplifi’s proprietary social media dataset — one of the largest in the industry, drawn from the platform used by more than 20,000 brands worldwide.
Data collection: Data is pulled once per quarter and reflects the state of Emplifi’s database at the start of the quarter following the period analyzed. It is not updated between releases.
Sample: 2,021 Facebook brand pages and 1,050 Instagram brand profiles in Latin America, April 1, 2026–June 30, 2026.
Minimum thresholds: Reports require a minimum of 50 Instagram profiles and 50 Facebook pages for a given region and industry combination. Interaction distribution data requires a minimum of 300 profiles. Ad benchmarks require a minimum of 200 active ad accounts from the region or industry.
All costs are in USD. All figures are medians unless otherwise noted. Data is first normalized at the profile/page level before aggregation.
Instagram. Across 30 industries, Instagram posts got higher user engagement than Facebook posts — with no exceptions. Instagram also led on activity volume (post frequency) in most verticals, and ran neck-and-neck with Facebook in the rest. If you’re deciding where to focus organic effort this quarter, Instagram is the stronger channel almost everywhere.
Reels and carousels. In nearly every industry we benchmarked, these two formats drove the highest median post interactions, often by a wide margin over photos and stories. Which one wins first place varies by industry, but the reel-carousel pairing is the consistent pattern.
The Facebook feed. It had the lowest cost per click worldwide, with Facebook Reels close behind as the second-cheapest placement. Instagram Stories was the lowest-CPC Instagram placement, but still came in behind both Facebook options.
E-commerce, by a wide margin — accounting for 37.4% of all brand-profile interactions on Instagram and 27.5% on Facebook. Retail and services follow as the next-largest categories on both platforms, with fashion also ranking high on Instagram specifically.
Brands using UGC saw a 19.88x increase in conversion rate, a 5.06x increase in website visits, and a 1.08x increase in average order value, compared to brands that don’t (Emplifi Brands UGC benchmark, Q2 2026). Conversion rate is where UGC makes the biggest difference.
