Instagram median post interactions held in the mid-40s for most of the past year before dropping sharply to around 37 by the end of Q2 2026, its lowest point in the period. Facebook stayed low and largely flat throughout, moving in a narrow 6–9 range.
Relative median interactions index each platform’s performance against its own peak over the reporting period, making it easier to compare directional trends across platforms regardless of absolute scale.
By Q2 2026, Instagram’s relative median interactions had fallen to around 75% of its peak after holding near 95–98% through April and May 2026 — a notable late-quarter drop. Facebook ended the period at around 78% of its own peak, having fluctuated between roughly 65% and 100% over the prior year.
Impressions measure how many times posts were displayed, regardless of interaction. This metric is available for both platforms and reflects reach rather than engagement.

Q2 2026 ad cost benchmarks for Latin America:
Note: Beverages does not have its own ad-account breakout in this deck (only a region-wide “Latin America Ad Accounts Benchmark” appears across all ad slides, with no separate “Beverages Ad Accounts Benchmark”), meaning Beverages advertisers in the region didn’t clear Emplifi’s 200-active-ad-account minimum for an industry-specific split. As a result, the same Latin America-wide figures are used for both columns below.
| Metric | Brands benchmark | Latin America overall |
|---|---|---|
| CPC (USD) | 0.08 | 0.08 |
| CPM (USD) | 0.73 | 0.73 |
| CTR (%) | 0.95 | 0.95 |
CPC held fairly flat across the past year, moving in a narrow $0.07–$0.09 band, dipping to around $0.07 in January 2026 before recovering to approximately $0.08 by Q2 2026. CPM trended gradually upward, rising from around $0.62 in May 2025 to a peak of roughly $0.72 in November 2025, dipping to about $0.57 in January 2026, then climbing again to end the period near $0.73. CTR rose steadily over the year, climbing from around 0.80% in May 2025 to nearly 1.00% around December 2025–January 2026, before settling at approximately 0.95% by Q2 2026.
These figures represent median performance across thousands of brand profiles in Emplifi’s dataset — they’re a useful calibration point, not a ceiling. If your Instagram engagement rate is sitting above 4.2%, you’re already ahead of the median for Latin America Beverages brands; below it, there are likely content-mix improvements worth testing, particularly around Carousel and Reel formats.
This report is produced quarterly using Emplifi’s proprietary social media dataset — one of the largest in the industry, drawn from the platform used by more than 20,000 brands worldwide.
Data collection: Data is pulled once per quarter and reflects the state of Emplifi’s database at the start of the quarter following the period analyzed. It is not updated between releases.
Sample: 616 Facebook brand pages and 354 Instagram brand profiles in Latin America, April 01, 2026–June 30, 2026.
Minimum thresholds: Reports require a minimum of 50 Instagram profiles and 50 Facebook pages for a given region and industry combination. Interaction distribution data requires a minimum of 300 profiles. Ad benchmarks require a minimum of 200 active ad accounts from the region or industry.
All costs are in USD. All figures are medians unless otherwise noted. Data is first normalized at the profile/page level before aggregation.
Instagram. Across 30 industries, Instagram posts got higher user engagement than Facebook posts — with no exceptions. Instagram also led on activity volume (post frequency) in most verticals, and ran neck-and-neck with Facebook in the rest. If you’re deciding where to focus organic effort this quarter, Instagram is the stronger channel almost everywhere.
Reels and carousels. In nearly every industry we benchmarked, these two formats drove the highest median post interactions, often by a wide margin over photos and stories. Which one wins first place varies by industry, but the reel-carousel pairing is the consistent pattern.
The Facebook feed. It had the lowest cost per click worldwide, with Facebook Reels close behind as the second-cheapest placement. Instagram Stories was the lowest-CPC Instagram placement, but still came in behind both Facebook options.
E-commerce, by a wide margin — accounting for 37.4% of all brand-profile interactions on Instagram and 27.5% on Facebook. Retail and services follow as the next-largest categories on both platforms, with fashion also ranking high on Instagram specifically.
Brands using UGC saw a 19.88x increase in conversion rate, a 5.06x increase in website visits, and a 1.08x increase in average order value, compared to brands that don’t (Emplifi Brands UGC benchmark, Q2 2026). Conversion rate is where UGC makes the biggest difference.
