Emplifi Team Social Media Marketing Experts

What’s in this report

In Q2 2026, ecommerce brands in Middle East Markets saw Instagram median post engagement rates of around 1.6%, well ahead of Facebook at roughly 0.5%. Facebook’s Live Video format continued to dominate organic performance by a wide margin, while on the paid side, Facebook feed remained both the top spending destination and the highest-CTR placement for ecommerce advertisers in the region.

This quarterly benchmarks report pulls from Emplifi’s dataset of 284 Facebook pages and 269 Instagram profiles across Middle East Markets, covering April 1, 2026 through June 30, 2026.

User-generated content: what’s achievable

Brands using Emplifi’s UGC solution this quarter saw:

  • 5.27x increase in conversion rate
  • 6.61x increase in website visits
  • 1.34x increase in average order value

These figures represent the median uplift seen across Emplifi’s Ecommerce UGC Accounts Benchmark for Q2 2026. Platform landscape at a glance

In Middle East Markets, Instagram brand profiles carry a higher median follower count than Facebook pages. The figures below reflect median values across all profiles in the sample at the end of Q2 2026.

Metric Instagram Facebook
Median followers / fans Higher Lower

Median total interactions (quarter) Higher Lower

Activity volume on both platforms is roughly comparable, while user engagement on Instagram outpaces Facebook.

Note: The source dataset for this section (Social Media Landscape) is a bubble chart with no printed numeric labels, so figures above are reported qualitatively rather than as exact numbers.

Median post interactions

Median post interactions track the middle-ranked page or profile by monthly interactions — a measure of typical performance rather than outlier peaks.

Platform Q2 2026 median post interactions
Instagram ~14
Facebook ~2

Instagram median post interactions declined steadily from around 22 in May 2025 to approximately 14 by Q2 2026, its lowest point in the period, while Facebook held flat at around 2 across the full period.

Relative median post interactions

Relative median interactions index each platform’s performance against its own peak over the reporting period, making it easier to compare directional trends across platforms regardless of absolute scale.

By Q2 2026, Instagram’s relative median interactions had dropped to around 62% of its peak — its lowest point in the period — while Facebook remained at 100% of its own peak throughout, reflecting a flat absolute trend line at a very low base.

Median post impressions

Impressions measure how many times posts were displayed, regardless of interaction. This metric is available for both platforms and reflects reach rather than engagement.

Platform Q2 2026 median post impressions
Instagram ~4,900
Facebook ~4,200

Instagram impressions climbed from around 3,000 in May 2025 to a peak of roughly 7,500 in November 2025, before pulling back to approximately 4,900 by Q2 2026. Facebook impressions fluctuated between about 3,500 and 5,700 over the same period, ending around 4,200.

Median post engagement rates this quarter:

  • Instagram: ~1.6%
  • Facebook: ~0.5%

Instagram engagement held broadly steady in the 1.55%–2.0% range across the past year, edging down slightly by Q2 2026, while Facebook engagement remained flat and low throughout, hovering between roughly 0.35% and 0.5%.

Best-performing post types

Facebook: Live Video and standard Video continue to outperform other formats organically. In Q2 2026, Live Video generated a median of 442 post interactions, while standard Video reached approximately 0–1.

Instagram: Carousel and Reel posts lead organic performance. Carousels generated a median of 12 post interactions this quarter; Reels reached 15.

Full organic post type performance (Q2 2026):

How to use these benchmarks

These figures represent median performance across thousands of brand profiles in Emplifi’s dataset — they’re a useful calibration point, not a ceiling. If your Instagram engagement rate is sitting above 1.6%, you’re already ahead of the median for Middle East Markets ecommerce brands; below it, there are likely content-mix improvements worth testing, such as leaning further into Reels and Carousels.

Methodology

This report is produced quarterly using Emplifi’s proprietary social media dataset — one of the largest in the industry, drawn from the platform used by more than 20,000 brands worldwide.

Data collection: Data is pulled once per quarter and reflects the state of Emplifi’s database at the start of the quarter following the period analyzed. It is not updated between releases.

Sample: 284 Facebook brand pages and 269 Instagram brand profiles in Middle East Markets, April 1, 2026–June 30, 2026.

Minimum thresholds: Reports require a minimum of 50 Instagram profiles and 50 Facebook pages for a given region and industry combination. Interaction distribution data requires a minimum of 300 profiles. Ad benchmarks require a minimum of 200 active ad accounts from the region or industry.

Key definitions

  • Interactions (Facebook): Sum of all reactions (Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sorry, Anger), comments, and shares on brand-published posts. Care reactions are counted under Likes.
  • Interactions (Instagram): Sum of likes and comments on brand-published posts.
  • Median post interactions: The middle-ranked page or profile when sorted by monthly post interactions. Represents typical performance, not average — so outliers don’t skew the figure.
  • Relative median interactions: Median interactions indexed to the maximum value in the reporting period for each platform, expressed as a percentage. Useful for comparing directional trends across platforms at different absolute scales.
  • Impressions: The number of times a post was displayed, regardless of whether it was interacted with. Reflects reach rather than engagement.
  • Engagement rate: Interactions divided by follower/fan count, expressed as a percentage.
  • Organic: Posts not paid to be promoted, detected using Emplifi’s internal algorithm with near-100% accuracy.
  • CPC / CPM: Median cost per click and cost per thousand impressions across all available ad accounts, shown for the top 5 placements by relative spend.
  • Relative spend: Normalized distribution (%) showing the average share of an account’s budget allocated to each placement.
  • CTR: Median click-through rate for the top 5 placements by relative spend.

All costs are in USD. All figures are medians unless otherwise noted. Data is first normalized at the profile/page level before aggregation.

Frequently asked questions

Instagram. Across 30 industries, Instagram posts got higher user engagement than Facebook posts — with no exceptions. Instagram also led on activity volume (post frequency) in most verticals, and ran neck-and-neck with Facebook in the rest. If you’re deciding where to focus organic effort this quarter, Instagram is the stronger channel almost everywhere.

Reels and carousels. In nearly every industry we benchmarked, these two formats drove the highest median post interactions, often by a wide margin over photos and stories. Which one wins first place varies by industry, but the reel-carousel pairing is the consistent pattern.

The Facebook feed. It had the lowest cost per click worldwide, with Facebook Reels close behind as the second-cheapest placement. Instagram Stories was the lowest-CPC Instagram placement, but still came in behind both Facebook options.

E-commerce, by a wide margin — accounting for 37.4% of all brand-profile interactions on Instagram and 27.5% on Facebook. Retail and services follow as the next-largest categories on both platforms, with fashion also ranking high on Instagram specifically.

Brands using UGC saw a 19.88x increase in conversion rate, a 5.06x increase in website visits, and a 1.08x increase in average order value, compared to brands that don’t (Emplifi Brands UGC benchmark, Q2 2026). Conversion rate is where UGC makes the biggest difference.
