Emplifi Team Social Media Marketing Experts

What’s in this report

In Q2 2026, Electronics brands in the Middle East Markets saw Instagram median post interactions (18) run well ahead of Facebook (10), while Instagram engagement rates (~2.3%) more than doubled Facebook’s (~1.2%). Retail, Services, and Airlines dominated overall interaction share on both platforms, with Electronics itself accounting for a modest 3.5% of Facebook interactions and 2.2% on Instagram. Carousel and Reel led organic performance on Instagram, while Link and Photo posts performed best on Facebook.

This quarterly benchmarks report pulls from Emplifi’s dataset of 97 Facebook pages and 66 Instagram profiles across Middle East Markets, covering April 1, 2026 through June 30, 2026.

Platform landscape at a glance

In Middle East Markets, Instagram brand profiles carry a lower median follower count than Facebook pages carry fans for Electronics accounts. Note: the source chart for this comparison (a bubble/circle visualization) does not print exact figures — only relative sizing — so the table below reflects directional comparisons rather than precise values.

Metric Instagram Facebook
Median followers / fans Lower Higher
Median posts published (quarter) Comparable Comparable
Median total interactions (quarter) Higher Lower

Activity volume on both platforms is roughly comparable, while user engagement on Instagram outpaces Facebook.

Median post interactions

Median post interactions track the middle-ranked page or profile by monthly interactions — a measure of typical performance rather than outlier peaks.

Platform Q2 2026 median post interactions
Instagram 18
Facebook 10

Instagram median post interactions held a consistent lead over Facebook throughout the past year, dipping to a low of around 14 in early 2026 before recovering to roughly 18 by June. Facebook stayed in a narrower 7–13 range across the same period, ending Q2 2026 at around 10.

Relative median post interactions

Relative median interactions index each platform’s performance against its own peak over the reporting period, making it easier to compare directional trends across platforms regardless of absolute scale.

By Q2 2026, Facebook’s relative median interactions had settled at around 81% of its own peak, having twice touched 100% earlier in the period (December 2025 and April 2026). Instagram, which held closer to its peak for most of the year, ended at around 78% — its lowest point since mid-2025.

Median post impressions

Impressions measure how many times posts were displayed, regardless of interaction. This metric is available for both platforms and reflects reach rather than engagement.

Platform Q2 2026 median post impressions
Instagram 1,500
Facebook 1,950

Instagram impressions spiked sharply in September 2025 to a peak of roughly 4,300, then declined steadily through the rest of the period to around 1,500 by June 2026. Facebook impressions moved in a much narrower band throughout, holding between roughly 2,300 and 2,800 before settling near 1,950 in Q2 2026.

Median post engagement rates this quarter:

  • Instagram: ~2.3%
  • Facebook: ~1.2%

Instagram engagement has remained broadly stable over the past year, holding in a 2.0–2.5% band throughout. Facebook engagement held closer to 0.75–0.85% for most of the period before ticking up to around 1.2% in Q2 2026, its highest point in the past year.

Best-performing post types

Facebook: Link and Photo posts are the strongest organic performers for Electronics brands in the Middle East Markets this quarter — the deck’s own commentary calls these out as the leading formats, rather than Live Video (Live Video volume was negligible for this industry/region combination and isn’t broken out as a distinct data point). Link posts generated a median of 12 post interactions in Q2 2026, while Photo reached 11.

Instagram: Carousel and Reel posts lead organic performance. Carousels generated a median of 26 post interactions this quarter; Reels reached 19.

Full organic post type performance (Q2 2026):

Post type Platform Median post interactions
Live Video Facebook Not enough data
Video Facebook 4
Photo Facebook 11
Reel Facebook 8
Status Facebook 11
Link Facebook 12
Carousel Instagram 26
Reel Instagram 19

Post type distribution trends:

On Facebook, Photo remains the dominant post format at around 53% of posts, though Reels are gaining share steadily — rising from near zero earlier in the year to approximately 44% by Q2 2026. On Instagram, Reels, Images, and Carousels each account for roughly a third of posts published, with Reels and Carousels driving the majority of top-performing content.

Methodology

This report is produced quarterly using Emplifi’s proprietary social media dataset — one of the largest in the industry, drawn from the platform used by more than 20,000 brands worldwide.

Data collection: Data is pulled once per quarter and reflects the state of Emplifi’s database at the start of the quarter following the period analyzed. It is not updated between releases.

Sample: 97 Facebook brand pages and 66 Instagram brand profiles in Middle East Markets, April 1, 2026–June 30, 2026.

Minimum thresholds: Reports require a minimum of 50 Instagram profiles and 50 Facebook pages for a given region and industry combination. Interaction distribution data requires a minimum of 300 profiles. Ad benchmarks require a minimum of 200 active ad accounts from the region or industry.

Key definitions

  • Interactions (Facebook): Sum of all reactions (Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sorry, Anger), comments, and shares on brand-published posts. Care reactions are counted under Likes.
  • Interactions (Instagram): Sum of likes and comments on brand-published posts.
  • Median post interactions: The middle-ranked page or profile when sorted by monthly post interactions. Represents typical performance, not average — so outliers don’t skew the figure.
  • Relative median interactions: Median interactions indexed to the maximum value in the reporting period for each platform, expressed as a percentage. Useful for comparing directional trends across platforms at different absolute scales.
  • Impressions: The number of times a post was displayed, regardless of whether it was interacted with. Reflects reach rather than engagement.
  • Engagement rate: Interactions divided by follower/fan count, expressed as a percentage.
  • Organic: Posts not paid to be promoted, detected using Emplifi’s internal algorithm with near-100% accuracy.
  • CPC / CPM: Median cost per click and cost per thousand impressions across all available ad accounts, shown for the top 5 placements by relative spend.
  • Relative spend: Normalized distribution (%) showing the average share of an account’s budget allocated to each placement.
  • CTR: Median click-through rate for the top 5 placements by relative spend.

All costs are in USD. All figures are medians unless otherwise noted. Data is first normalized at the profile/page level before aggregation.

Frequently asked questions

Instagram. Across 30 industries, Instagram posts got higher user engagement than Facebook posts — with no exceptions. Instagram also led on activity volume (post frequency) in most verticals, and ran neck-and-neck with Facebook in the rest. If you’re deciding where to focus organic effort this quarter, Instagram is the stronger channel almost everywhere.

Reels and carousels. In nearly every industry we benchmarked, these two formats drove the highest median post interactions, often by a wide margin over photos and stories. Which one wins first place varies by industry, but the reel-carousel pairing is the consistent pattern.

The Facebook feed. It had the lowest cost per click worldwide, with Facebook Reels close behind as the second-cheapest placement. Instagram Stories was the lowest-CPC Instagram placement, but still came in behind both Facebook options.

E-commerce, by a wide margin — accounting for 37.4% of all brand-profile interactions on Instagram and 27.5% on Facebook. Retail and services follow as the next-largest categories on both platforms, with fashion also ranking high on Instagram specifically.

Brands using UGC saw a 19.88x increase in conversion rate, a 5.06x increase in website visits, and a 1.08x increase in average order value, compared to brands that don’t (Emplifi Brands UGC benchmark, Q2 2026). Conversion rate is where UGC makes the biggest difference.
