Emplifi Team Social Media Marketing Experts

What’s in this report

In Q2 2026, Middle East fashion brands saw Instagram median post engagement rates approach 2.0%, while Facebook trailed at just over 1.0%. Retail led interaction share on both platforms regionally, with Fashion holding a modest slice (2.0% on Facebook, 3.9% on Instagram). Carousel and Reel remained Instagram’s top-performing organic formats, while on Facebook, Link posts unexpectedly outperformed video formats this quarter.

This quarterly benchmarks report pulls from Emplifi’s dataset of 240 Facebook pages and 238 Instagram profiles across Middle East, covering April 1, 2026 through June 30, 2026.

User-generated content: what’s achievable

Brands using Emplifi’s UGC solution this quarter saw:

  • 8.02x increase in conversion rate
  • 4.31x increase in website visits
  • 1.01x increase in average order value

These figures represent the median uplift seen across Emplifi’s Fashion UGC Accounts Benchmark for Q2 2026 (Fashion has its own dedicated UGC benchmark slide, distinct from the generic Brands UGC benchmark used for smaller verticals).

Platform landscape at a glance

In Middle East, Instagram brand profiles carry a higher median follower count than Facebook pages for Fashion. The underlying chart (a bubble/circle visualization) does not print exact values, so the figures below are shown qualitatively rather than as fabricated numbers.

Metric Instagram Facebook
Median followers / fans Higher Lower
Median posts published (quarter) Comparable Comparable
Median total interactions (quarter) Higher Lower

Activity volume on both platforms is roughly comparable, while user engagement on Instagram outpaces Facebook.

Median post interactions

Median post interactions track the middle-ranked page or profile by monthly interactions — a measure of typical performance rather than outlier peaks.

Platform Q2 2026 median post interactions
Instagram ~21
Facebook ~3

Instagram median post interactions trended downward over the past year, sliding from around 28 in mid-2025 to roughly 17 by early 2026 before recovering slightly to around 21 by Q2 2026. Facebook median post interactions held low throughout, easing from about 5 to roughly 3 over the same period.

Relative median post interactions

Relative median interactions index each platform’s performance against its own peak over the reporting period, making it easier to compare directional trends across platforms regardless of absolute scale.

By Q2 2026, Facebook’s relative median interactions had settled at around 60% of its year-ago peak, while Instagram sat slightly higher at roughly 70% of its own peak, after both platforms converged near their respective highs in mid-2025.

Median post impressions

Impressions measure how many times posts were displayed, regardless of interaction. This metric is available for both platforms and reflects reach rather than engagement.

Platform Q2 2026 median post impressions
Instagram ~3,300
Facebook ~1,500

Instagram impressions climbed sharply through 2025, peaking at around 11,500 in November before declining steadily to approximately 3,300 by Q2 2026. Facebook impressions stayed low and comparatively flat throughout, ending the period at around 1,500.

Median post engagement rates this quarter:

  • Instagram: ~2.0%
  • Facebook: ~1.1%

Instagram engagement rates held mostly steady in the 1.4%–1.8% range for most of the past year before climbing to nearly 2.0% in Q2 2026. Facebook engagement stayed close to 0.5%–0.7% for most of the period before rising to just over 1.0% by Q2 2026.

Best-performing post types

Facebook: Unlike the typical regional pattern, Live Video and standard Video did not lead organic performance for Fashion in the Middle East this quarter — the extracted chart shows no measurable Live Video sample at all for this segment (insufficient data), and standard Video generated just 2 median post interactions. Instead, Link posts led all Facebook formats with 25 median post interactions, followed by Reel at 3.

Instagram: Carousel and Reel posts lead organic performance. Carousels generated a median of 30 post interactions this quarter; Reels reached 28.

Full organic post type performance (Q2 2026):

Post type Platform Median post interactions
Live Video Facebook Not available (insufficient sample)
Video Facebook 2
Photo Facebook 2
Reel Facebook 3
Status Facebook 2
Link Facebook 25
Carousel Instagram 30
Reel Instagram 28
Image Instagram 12

Post type distribution trends:

On Facebook, Photo remains the dominant post format at around 62% of posts, though Reels are gaining share steadily — rising from near zero earlier in the year to approximately 30% by Q2 2026. On Instagram, Reels, Images, and Carousels each account for roughly a third of posts published, with Reels and Carousels driving the majority of top-performing content.

How to use these benchmarks

These figures represent median performance across thousands of brand profiles in Emplifi’s dataset — they’re a useful calibration point, not a ceiling. If your Instagram engagement rate is sitting above roughly 2.0%, you’re already ahead of the median for Middle East fashion brands this quarter; below that, Reels and Carousels are the formats most worth testing first.

Methodology

This report is produced quarterly using Emplifi’s proprietary social media dataset — one of the largest in the industry, drawn from the platform used by more than 20,000 brands worldwide.

Data collection: Data is pulled once per quarter and reflects the state of Emplifi’s database at the start of the quarter following the period analyzed. It is not updated between releases.

Sample: 240 Facebook brand pages and 238 Instagram brand profiles in Middle East, April 1, 2026–June 30, 2026.

Minimum thresholds: Reports require a minimum of 50 Instagram profiles and 50 Facebook pages for a given region and industry combination. Interaction distribution data requires a minimum of 300 profiles. Ad benchmarks require a minimum of 200 active ad accounts from the region or industry.

Key definitions

  • Interactions (Facebook): Sum of all reactions (Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sorry, Anger), comments, and shares on brand-published posts. Care reactions are counted under Likes.
  • Interactions (Instagram): Sum of likes and comments on brand-published posts.
  • Median post interactions: The middle-ranked page or profile when sorted by monthly post interactions. Represents typical performance, not average — so outliers don’t skew the figure.
  • Relative median interactions: Median interactions indexed to the maximum value in the reporting period for each platform, expressed as a percentage. Useful for comparing directional trends across platforms at different absolute scales.
  • Impressions: The number of times a post was displayed, regardless of whether it was interacted with. Reflects reach rather than engagement.
  • Engagement rate: Interactions divided by follower/fan count, expressed as a percentage.
  • Organic: Posts not paid to be promoted, detected using Emplifi’s internal algorithm with near-100% accuracy.
  • CPC / CPM: Median cost per click and cost per thousand impressions across all available ad accounts, shown for the top 5 placements by relative spend.
  • Relative spend: Normalized distribution (%) showing the average share of an account’s budget allocated to each placement.
  • CTR: Median click-through rate for the top 5 placements by relative spend.

All costs are in USD. All figures are medians unless otherwise noted. Data is first normalized at the profile/page level before aggregation.

Frequently asked questions

Instagram. Across 30 industries, Instagram posts got higher user engagement than Facebook posts — with no exceptions. Instagram also led on activity volume (post frequency) in most verticals, and ran neck-and-neck with Facebook in the rest. If you’re deciding where to focus organic effort this quarter, Instagram is the stronger channel almost everywhere.

Reels and carousels. In nearly every industry we benchmarked, these two formats drove the highest median post interactions, often by a wide margin over photos and stories. Which one wins first place varies by industry, but the reel-carousel pairing is the consistent pattern.

The Facebook feed. It had the lowest cost per click worldwide, with Facebook Reels close behind as the second-cheapest placement. Instagram Stories was the lowest-CPC Instagram placement, but still came in behind both Facebook options.

E-commerce, by a wide margin — accounting for 37.4% of all brand-profile interactions on Instagram and 27.5% on Facebook. Retail and services follow as the next-largest categories on both platforms, with fashion also ranking high on Instagram specifically.

Brands using UGC saw a 19.88x increase in conversion rate, a 5.06x increase in website visits, and a 1.08x increase in average order value, compared to brands that don’t (Emplifi Brands UGC benchmark, Q2 2026). Conversion rate is where UGC makes the biggest difference.
