Asia Pacific Social Media Benchmarks: Finance Q2 2026

Emplifi Team Social Media Marketing Experts

What’s in this report

In Q2 2026, Finance brands in Asia Pacific saw Instagram median post engagement rates of around 2.8%, well ahead of Facebook’s roughly 1.5%. Ecommerce continued to dominate overall interaction share on both platforms, with Finance holding the second-highest share on Facebook. Live Video and Reels led organic performance on Facebook and Instagram respectively, while State Bank of India dominated both page rankings and top individual posts.

This quarterly benchmarks report pulls from Emplifi’s dataset of 1,547 Facebook pages and 515 Instagram profiles across Asia Pacific, covering April 1, 2026 through June 30, 2026.

User-generated content: what’s achievable

Brands using Emplifi’s UGC solution this quarter saw:

  • 19.88x increase in conversion rate
  • 5.06x increase in website visits
  • 1.08x increase in average order value

These figures represent the median uplift seen across Emplifi’s Brands UGC Accounts Benchmark for Q2 2026. This deck’s UGC slide was the generic cross-industry “Brands UGC Accounts Benchmark” rather than a Finance-specific breakout, so the figures above are the shared regional benchmark rather than a Finance-only figure.

Platform landscape at a glance

In Asia Pacific, Instagram Finance brand profiles carry a lower median follower count than Facebook Finance pages carry in fans. The figures below reflect relative standing across all profiles in the sample at the end of Q2 2026.

Metric Instagram Facebook
Median followers / fans Lower Higher
Median posts published (quarter) Roughly comparable Roughly comparable
Median total interactions (quarter) Higher Lower

Note: the source slide for this section presents relative bubble sizes rather than printed counts, so the table above reflects directional comparisons rather than exact figures.

Activity volume on both platforms is roughly comparable, while user engagement on Instagram outpaces Facebook.

Median post interactions

Median post interactions track the middle-ranked page or profile by monthly interactions — a measure of typical performance rather than outlier peaks.

Platform Q2 2026 median post interactions
Instagram 27
Facebook 17

Facebook median post interactions declined gradually across the period, from around 23 in mid-2025 to roughly 17 by Q2 2026 — its lowest point in the period. Instagram held in the high-20s to low-30s throughout, ending Q2 2026 at approximately 27.

Relative median post interactions

Relative median interactions index each platform’s performance against its own peak over the reporting period, making it easier to compare directional trends across platforms regardless of absolute scale.

By Q2 2026, Facebook’s relative median interactions had fallen to around 68% of its peak — its lowest point in the period — while Instagram remained closer to its own peak, at around 82%.

Median post impressions

Impressions measure how many times posts were displayed, regardless of interaction. This metric is available for both platforms and reflects reach rather than engagement.

Platform Q2 2026 median post impressions
Instagram ~2,250
Facebook ~2,150

Instagram impressions climbed sharply from mid-2025, peaking at around 7,000 in September 2025 before pulling back steadily to approximately 2,250 by Q2 2026 — likely reflecting algorithmic reach patterns tied to Reels distribution. Facebook impressions stayed comparatively flat throughout, ending Q2 2026 at around 2,150, close to Instagram’s level.

Median post engagement rates this quarter:

  • Instagram: ~2.8%
  • Facebook: ~1.5%

Instagram engagement held broadly steady in the high-2% to low-3% range throughout the period, ending Q2 2026 near 2.8%. Facebook engagement trended gradually upward, from around 0.9% in mid-2025 to roughly 1.5% by Q2 2026 — its highest point in the period.

Best-performing post types

Facebook: Live Video and standard Video continue to outperform other formats organically. In Q2 2026, Live Video generated a median of 33 post interactions, while standard Video reached 3.

Instagram: Carousel and Reel posts lead organic performance. Carousels generated a median of 29 post interactions this quarter; Reels reached 36.

On Instagram, Reels, Images, and Carousels each account for roughly a third of posts published, with Reels and Carousels driving the majority of top-performing content.

How to use these benchmarks

These figures represent median performance across thousands of brand profiles in Emplifi’s dataset — they’re a useful calibration point, not a ceiling. If your Instagram engagement rate for Finance content is sitting above 2.8%, you’re already ahead of the median for Asia Pacific Finance brands; below it, there are likely content-mix improvements worth testing, such as leaning further into Reels and Carousels.

Methodology

This report is produced quarterly using Emplifi’s proprietary social media dataset — one of the largest in the industry, drawn from the platform used by more than 20,000 brands worldwide.

Data collection: Data is pulled once per quarter and reflects the state of Emplifi’s database at the start of the quarter following the period analyzed. It is not updated between releases.

Sample: 1,547 Facebook brand pages and 515 Instagram brand profiles in Asia Pacific, April 1, 2026–June 30, 2026.

Minimum thresholds: Reports require a minimum of 50 Instagram profiles and 50 Facebook pages for a given region and industry combination. Interaction distribution data requires a minimum of 300 profiles. Ad benchmarks require a minimum of 200 active ad accounts from the region or industry.

Key definitions

  • Interactions (Facebook): Sum of all reactions (Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sorry, Anger), comments, and shares on brand-published posts. Care reactions are counted under Likes.
  • Interactions (Instagram): Sum of likes and comments on brand-published posts.
  • Median post interactions: The middle-ranked page or profile when sorted by monthly post interactions. Represents typical performance, not average — so outliers don’t skew the figure.
  • Relative median interactions: Median interactions indexed to the maximum value in the reporting period for each platform, expressed as a percentage. Useful for comparing directional trends across platforms at different absolute scales.
  • Impressions: The number of times a post was displayed, regardless of whether it was interacted with. Reflects reach rather than engagement.
  • Engagement rate: Interactions divided by follower/fan count, expressed as a percentage.
  • Organic: Posts not paid to be promoted, detected using Emplifi’s internal algorithm with near-100% accuracy.
  • CPC / CPM: Median cost per click and cost per thousand impressions across all available ad accounts, shown for the top 5 placements by relative spend.
  • Relative spend: Normalized distribution (%) showing the average share of an account’s budget allocated to each placement.
  • CTR: Median click-through rate for the top 5 placements by relative spend.

All costs are in USD. All figures are medians unless otherwise noted. Data is first normalized at the profile/page level before aggregation.

Frequently asked questions

Instagram. Across 30 industries, Instagram posts got higher user engagement than Facebook posts — with no exceptions. Instagram also led on activity volume (post frequency) in most verticals, and ran neck-and-neck with Facebook in the rest. If you’re deciding where to focus organic effort this quarter, Instagram is the stronger channel almost everywhere.

Reels and carousels. In nearly every industry we benchmarked, these two formats drove the highest median post interactions, often by a wide margin over photos and stories. Which one wins first place varies by industry, but the reel-carousel pairing is the consistent pattern.

The Facebook feed. It had the lowest cost per click worldwide, with Facebook Reels close behind as the second-cheapest placement. Instagram Stories was the lowest-CPC Instagram placement, but still came in behind both Facebook options.

E-commerce, by a wide margin — accounting for 37.4% of all brand-profile interactions on Instagram and 27.5% on Facebook. Retail and services follow as the next-largest categories on both platforms, with fashion also ranking high on Instagram specifically.

Brands using UGC saw a 19.88x increase in conversion rate, a 5.06x increase in website visits, and a 1.08x increase in average order value, compared to brands that don’t (Emplifi Brands UGC benchmark, Q2 2026). Conversion rate is where UGC makes the biggest difference.
