What is an Instagram tag?

Definition: Instagram Tag

One manner to indicate the subject(s) of a photo, or a means to communicate with an Instagram user by placing an (@) before his or her username. Tagging with a (@) is a way to directly interact with or gain the attention of a person or a brand. Users are notified if you tag them in a photo.
