North America beverages social media benchmarks for Q3 2026 show Instagram well ahead: the median beverage brand’s Instagram post earned 48.5 interactions in September, against seven on Facebook. Carousels led Instagram with a median of 79 interactions per post, and coffee chains 7 Brew Coffee and Black Rifle Coffee Company ranked in the top three on both platforms.
This quarterly benchmarks report draws on Emplifi’s dataset of 244 Facebook pages and 202 Instagram profiles in the beverages category in North America, covering July 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2026.
Brands using Emplifi’s UGC solution saw these average uplifts in Q3 2026:
These are averages from Emplifi’s Worldwide Brands UGC benchmark, across 68 to 83 accounts per metric. The benchmark pools brands from every category and region, so the uplifts are not specific to beverage brands in North America.
Ecommerce brands collect 44.1% of brand interactions on Facebook in North America. On Instagram, alcohol leads with 23.8% of interactions from 6.8% of brand posts, followed by beauty and retail. Beverages is a small category on Facebook, with 1.6% of brand posts and 0.7% of interactions, and the export has no beverages row for Instagram.

Instagram has ranged between 45.5 and 58 over the period, peaking in May 2026 and settling at 48 to 48.5 through Q3. Facebook peaked at 12 in January 2026 and has declined since, to seven in August and September, the lowest level in 15 months.
Instagram closed September 2026 at 84% of its May peak. Facebook finished at 58% of its January high, the lowest point of the period for either platform.
Impressions show how often posts were displayed, whether or not anyone interacted. Emplifi’s dataset has too few North America beverages profiles with impression data this quarter, so the impressions below are the Worldwide beverages medians.
| Platform | Q3 2026 median post impressions |
|---|---|
| 1,190 | |
| 756 |
On the worldwide beverages series, September 2026 was the lowest month of the period on both platforms. Facebook impressions fell from 3,997 in July 2025, and Instagram impressions from a peak of 2,841 in August 2025.
Median post engagement rates this quarter (Worldwide beverages medians):
These rates are the Worldwide beverages medians as well, so they should be read separately from the North America interaction figures. Across Q3, Instagram’s median ranged from 2.12% to 2.21% and Facebook’s from 0.63% to 0.91%.
From this quarter, Emplifi calculates engagement rate from impressions instead of reach, because Facebook no longer provides reach data. These rates are therefore not comparable with the engagement rates in earlier quarterly reports.
Facebook: Status updates earned the highest median, nine interactions, ahead of photos at seven, Reels at six and links at five. The export has no Live Video row for this group.
Instagram: Carousels earned a median of 79 interactions, almost double Reels, and single images came third.

This quarter’s data has no beverages-specific ad benchmark, so the paid figures below come from Emplifi’s North America ad accounts benchmark, which covers ad accounts in every industry in the region.
Facebook feed dominates North America ad budgets, at 36.9% of spend, 22.3 percentage points ahead of Instagram Reels. Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels and Instagram feed each take just under 15%.
The most cost-efficient placements this quarter:
North America is an expensive market, with CPMs above $10 on every top placement. Instagram Reels pairs a low CPM ($10.85) with the highest CPC, $2.94, almost five times Facebook feed’s $0.61.
Spend, CPC and CPM by placement (Q3 2026):
| Placement | Share of spend (%) | CPC (USD) | CPM (USD) |
|---|---|---|---|

CTR by placement (Q3 2026):
| Placement | CTR (%) |

Instagram carousels are the strongest format but only about a fifth of posts, so there is room to post more of them. On Facebook, simple status updates and photos outperformed Reels this quarter, which is worth testing before shifting more volume to video.
This report is produced quarterly from Emplifi’s proprietary social media dataset, drawn from the platform used by more than 22,000 brands worldwide.
Data collection: Data is pulled once per quarter and reflects the state of Emplifi’s database at the start of the quarter following the period analyzed. It is not updated between releases.
Sample: 244 Facebook brand pages and 202 Instagram brand profiles in the beverages category in North America, July 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2026.
Reporting period: Monthly metrics are reported for September 2026, the final month of the quarter, and trend commentary covers July 2025 through September 2026. The ads trend series also covers July 2025 through September 2026.
Minimum thresholds: Reports require a minimum of 50 Instagram profiles and 50 Facebook pages for a given region and industry combination. Interaction distribution data requires a minimum of 300 profiles. Ad benchmarks require a minimum of 200 active ad accounts from the region or industry.
All costs are in USD. All figures are medians unless otherwise noted; UGC uplifts are averages. Data is first normalized at the profile or page level before aggregation.
Carousels, with a median of 79 interactions per post in Q3 2026, against 43 for Reels and 37 for single images. Carousels made up 21.2% of beverage brands’ Instagram posts in September 2026.
About 48.5 on Instagram and seven on Facebook, the September 2026 medians. The Facebook median has fallen from 12 in January 2026, while Instagram held at 48 to 48.5 throughout Q3.
Reels are now 45.3% of beverage brands’ Facebook posts, but in Q3 2026 they earned a median of six interactions, behind status updates at nine and photos at seven. Test them against simpler formats rather than replacing those formats outright.
Facebook feed had a CPM of $10.40 and a CPC of $0.61 in Q3 2026, the lowest of the top five placements, while Instagram Reels clicks cost $2.94. These figures come from Emplifi’s North America ad accounts benchmark, because beverages has no ad benchmark of its own this quarter.
Emplifi’s dataset has too few North America beverages profiles with impression data this quarter, so the engagement rate and impressions sections use the Worldwide beverages medians. On that series, Instagram engagement reached up to 2.21% in Q3 2026. A free social media assessment measures your own engagement rate.
