Beverages social media benchmarks for Q3 2026 show both platforms closing the quarter at their lowest interaction levels, with Instagram still five times ahead: the median beverage brand’s Instagram post earned 41 interactions in September, against eight on Facebook. Median engagement reached up to 2.21% on Instagram and up to 0.91% on Facebook across the quarter. Carousels led on Instagram, while Live Video and links led on Facebook.
This quarterly benchmarks report draws on Emplifi’s dataset of 3,030 Facebook pages and 1,603 Instagram profiles in the worldwide beverages category, covering July 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2026.
Brands using Emplifi’s UGC solution saw these average uplifts in Q3 2026:
The figures come from Emplifi’s Worldwide Brands UGC benchmark, averaged across 68 to 83 accounts per metric. That benchmark covers brands in every category, so it is not specific to beverages.
Ecommerce brands collect the largest share of Facebook interactions of any category broken out in the data, and fashion leads Instagram with more than 40%. Beverages are a small category in this breakdown: 2.3% of Facebook brand posts for 2.1% of interactions, and 0.2% of both posts and interactions on Instagram.
Facebook interaction distribution (Q3 2026):
| Category | Share of total interactions |
|---|---|
| Ecommerce | 31.3% |
| Finance | 7.8% |
| Services | 4.8% |
| Auto | 4.1% |
| Retail | 3.5% |
| Others | 48.6% |
Instagram interaction distribution (Q3 2026):

| Beauty | 13.5% |
| Ecommerce | 8.3% |
| Sporting goods | 7.4% |
| Auto | 5.1% |
| Others | 25.1% |
The table shows the five categories with the largest interaction share among the region’s highest-posting categories. Others combines every remaining category, beverages included.
Beverage brands have about 65% more fans on Facebook than followers on Instagram. Instagram profiles post a little more often and collect almost five times the interactions over the quarter.

| Median followers / fans | 32,609 | 53,888 |
| Median posts published (quarter) | 26 | 21 |
| Median total interactions (quarter) | 2,017 | 422 |
The median follows the middle-ranked page or profile each month, so a single giant brand can’t move it.

In a category where one brand dominates the top tables, that matters. Instagram drifted from a high of 48 in August 2025 to 41 in September 2026, and Facebook from 13 in mid-2025 to eight. Both finished the quarter at their lowest point.
Against each platform’s own 15-month high, Instagram finished September at 85% and Facebook at 62%. Both lines have sloped gently downward for the whole period.
Impressions count how often posts were displayed, whether or not anyone interacted. They measure visibility, not engagement.
| Platform | Q3 2026 median post impressions |
|---|---|
| 1,190 | |
| 756 |
Instagram posts were displayed about one and a half times as often as Facebook posts in September. Instagram impressions fell from about 2,800 in mid-2025 to about 1,250 by February 2026 and have stayed close to that level. Facebook has been volatile and ended the quarter at its lowest point, down from 3,997 in July 2025. The decline is not specific to beverages: median impressions for brands worldwide fell from about 1,500 to 779 on Facebook and from about 3,900 to about 2,050 on Instagram between July 2025 and September 2026.
Median post engagement rates this quarter:
Instagram’s median ranged from 2.12% to 2.21% across the quarter, and Facebook’s from 0.63% to 0.91%. Instagram’s rate nearly doubled from a low of 1.14% in August 2025 to a high of 2.32% in June 2026. Facebook’s August figure was its highest of the 15 months, after dipping as low as 0.60% in March 2026.
From this quarter, Emplifi calculates engagement rate from impressions instead of reach, because Facebook no longer provides reach data. These rates are therefore not comparable with the engagement rates in earlier quarterly reports.
Facebook: Live Video and links finished one interaction apart, both more than twice any other format, but together they made up less than 2% of beverage brands’ Facebook posts in September. Reels earned the least of the five.
Instagram: Carousels led by a wide margin, about 55% ahead of Reels and more than 80% ahead of single images.

Post type distribution trends:

| 3 | Red Bull India | 746,207 | 103 | 4,380,726 |
Red Bull is in a league of its own. Its global Facebook page collected about 15 times the interactions of Monster Energy in second place, and Red Bull accounts filled the whole Instagram top three.
Every top post on both platforms was a Red Bull Reel of extreme sports. The same Danny MacAskill bike clip topped both tables.

This quarter’s data has no beverage-specific ad benchmark, so the paid figures below come from Emplifi’s Worldwide ad accounts benchmark, which spans ad accounts in every industry.
Facebook feed takes about a third of the average ad budget, more than double Instagram feed in second. Facebook Reels and Instagram Reels follow almost level, and Instagram Stories takes the smallest share of the five.
The most cost-efficient placements this quarter:
Facebook feed is the cheapest placement on both CPC and CPM. Instagram Reels pairs a low CPM with the highest CPC, so it suits reach goals better than traffic goals.
Spend, CPC and CPM by placement (Q3 2026):

Compare yourself with the median, not with Red Bull: its numbers sit far outside the typical range. On Instagram, carousels are the strongest format and less than a fifth of posts. On Facebook, links and live sessions are worth testing against Reels, which earned the least this quarter.
