What’s in this report

Latin America electronics social media benchmarks for Q3 2026 show Instagram doing almost all the work: the median electronics brand’s Instagram post earned 40 interactions in September, ten times the four it earned on Facebook. Median engagement reached up to 2.31% on Instagram, its highest level in 15 months, and up to 0.76% on Facebook. Carousels led on Instagram, and on Facebook, links outperformed every other format.

This quarterly benchmarks report draws on Emplifi’s dataset of 601 Facebook pages and 374 Instagram profiles of electronics brands in Latin America, covering July 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2026.

User-generated content: what’s achievable

Brands using Emplifi’s UGC solution saw these average uplifts in Q3 2026:

  • 11.49x conversion rate
  • 4.84x repeat website visits
  • 1.03x average order value

The figures come from Emplifi’s Worldwide Brands UGC benchmark, averaged across 68 to 83 accounts per metric. That benchmark covers brands worldwide in every category, so it is not specific to electronics or to Latin America.

Organic performance: Facebook and Instagram

Interaction share by industry

Services brands draw the biggest share of Facebook interactions among the categories broken out for Latin America, with gambling and ecommerce next. On Instagram, ecommerce and alcohol together account for half of all brand interactions. Electronics behaves very differently on the two platforms: it publishes 1.0% of Facebook brand posts but collects only 0.3% of interactions, while on Instagram its 3.1% of posts earns 4.7% of interactions, enough to place it among the top five categories.

Facebook interaction distribution (Q3 2026):

Category Share of total interactions
Services 24.5%
Gambling 13.5%
Ecommerce 12.6%
Finance 7.0%
Retail 4.2%
Others 38.2%

Instagram interaction distribution (Q3 2026):

Category Share of total interactions
Ecommerce 29.7%
Alcohol 20.2%
Finance 9.0%
Fashion 7.0%
Electronics 4.7%
Others 29.4%

The categories listed are those with the most brand posts in Latin America, plus electronics. Others combines every remaining category.

Platform landscape at a glance

The two platforms start from similar audiences: the median electronics brand has about 77,000 Instagram followers and about 66,000 Facebook fans, and it posts a little more often on Instagram. The return is not similar at all. Over the quarter, the median Instagram profile collected more than 18 times the interactions of the median Facebook page.

Metric Instagram Facebook
Median followers / fans 77,142 65,645
Median posts published (quarter) 43 35
Median total interactions (quarter) 3,513 190

Median post interactions

This metric follows the middle-ranked page or profile each month, so a handful of viral accounts can’t inflate it.

Platform Q3 2026 median post interactions
Instagram 40
Facebook 4

Instagram opened the period at 45 interactions in July 2025, slid to 31 by December 2025, and has climbed back unevenly since, finishing Q3 at 40 after 36 and 35 in July and August. Facebook moved the other way: it held at six for the first seven months, eased to five in early 2026 and ended the quarter at four.

Relative median post interactions

Indexing each platform to its own 15-month peak makes the two easier to compare despite their different scales.

Instagram closed September 2026 at 89% of its July 2025 high, well above its December 2025 low of 69%. Facebook finished at 67% of its peak, the lowest point of the period for either platform.

Median post impressions

Impressions count how often posts were displayed, whether or not anyone interacted. They measure visibility, not engagement.

Platform Q3 2026 median post impressions
Instagram 2,492
Facebook 564

Instagram impressions peaked at 4,034 in August 2025, bottomed out at 1,461 in April 2026 and recovered during Q3, reaching 3,391 in August before settling at 2,492 in September. Facebook impressions fell from a peak of 1,373 in October 2025 to 564 in September 2026, the lowest point of the period. That decline is not limited to electronics: median Facebook impressions for all brands in Latin America fell from 2,529 in July 2025 to about 1,027 in September 2026.

Engagement rate trends

Median post engagement rates this quarter:

  • Instagram: up to 2.31%
  • Facebook: up to 0.76%

Across the quarter’s three months, Instagram’s median ranged from 1.92% to 2.31% and Facebook’s from 0.75% to 0.76%. Instagram’s September rate is the highest in the 15-month window and more than double its November 2025 low of 0.98%. Facebook stayed within a 0.61% to 0.84% band for the whole period.

From this quarter, Emplifi calculates engagement rate from impressions instead of reach, because Facebook no longer provides reach data. These rates are therefore not comparable with the engagement rates in earlier quarterly reports.

Best-performing post types

Facebook: Links earned the most interactions, a median of seven per post, ahead of Reels at five. Links are rare, though: they made up 0.7% of electronics brands’ Facebook posts in September. Photos and status updates trailed at three, and Live Video earned a median of one.

Instagram: Carousels came out on top, eight interactions ahead of Reels, with single images further behind.

Full organic post type performance (Q3 2026):

Status Facebook 3
Live Video Facebook 1

Post type distribution trends:

Reels now account for almost half of electronics brands’ Facebook posts in Latin America: their share rose from 24.2% in July 2025 to 39.9% in October 2025 and 45.9% in September 2026. Photos fell from 65.0% to 50.3% over the same period. On Instagram, Reels already made up about half of all posts (48.9% in September 2026). Carousels, the best-performing format, grew from 22.3% to 27.4% of posts, and single images slipped from 29.3% to 23.4%.

Paid performance: Facebook and Instagram ads

The placement figures below come from Emplifi’s electronics ad accounts benchmark, which pools electronics ad accounts across all regions. They are not specific to Latin America. The cost trends table adds the Latin America overall benchmark, which covers ad accounts in every industry in the region.

Where brands are spending

Facebook feed takes almost a third of the average electronics ad budget, 14.9 percentage points more than Facebook Reels in second place. Instagram Reels follows almost level with Facebook Reels, and Instagram feed and Stories share the rest of the top five.

CPC and CPM by placement

The most cost-efficient placements this quarter:

  • Lowest CPC: Facebook feed, Facebook Reels and Instagram Stories
  • Lowest CPM: Facebook Reels, Facebook feed and Instagram Reels

Facebook Reels delivers the cheapest reach of the five placements, and Facebook feed the cheapest clicks. Instagram feed and Instagram Reels cost more than twice as much per click as either Facebook placement.

Spend, CPC and CPM by placement (Q3 2026):

Placement Share of spend (%) CPC (USD) CPM (USD)
Facebook feed 30.72 0.19 3.03
Facebook Reels 15.82 0.29 2.95
Instagram Reels 15.54 0.74 3.14
Instagram feed 12.05 0.73 4.06
Instagram Stories 8.59 0.56 4.22

Click-through rate by placement

Facebook leads on clicks too. Facebook feed and Facebook Reels both clear 1%, while all three Instagram placements stay below that mark.

CTR by placement (Q3 2026):

Placement CTR (%)
Facebook feed 1.71
Facebook Reels 1.21
Instagram Stories 0.93
Instagram feed 0.90
Instagram Reels 0.82

Cost trends over time

Q3 2026 ad cost benchmarks, shown for September 2026 with the quarter’s monthly range:

Metric Electronics benchmark (all regions) Latin America overall
CPM (USD) 1.94 (1.68 to 1.94) 0.80 (0.71 to 0.80)
CTR (%) 1.28 (1.07 to 1.28) 1.09 (1.01 to 1.09)

Electronics CPM rose by more than 80% from its low of $1.06 in January 2026 to $1.94 in September 2026, with the biggest jump in May. Latin America’s overall CPM is far lower and rose more gently, from about $0.60 in July 2025 to $0.80 in September 2026, its highest level in the period. Click-through rates climbed on both series: electronics CTR rose from 0.87% in July 2025 to 1.28% in September 2026, and the regional rate from 0.74% to 1.09%, both 15-month highs. No monthly CPC series is available.

How to use these benchmarks

Treat these medians as a calibration point for electronics brands in Latin America, not a ceiling. Pull the same measures for your own Facebook and Instagram profiles and set them against the September 2026 figures above:

  • Median post interactions
  • Median post impressions
  • Median engagement rate
  • Post type mix

On Instagram, test more carousels: they outperform Reels here, yet make up just over a quarter of posts. On Facebook, Reels and the occasional link post both earn more than photos, which still make up half of what electronics brands publish.

Methodology

This report is produced quarterly from Emplifi’s proprietary social media dataset, drawn from the platform used by more than 22,000 brands worldwide.

Data collection: Data is pulled once per quarter and reflects the state of Emplifi’s database at the start of the quarter following the period analyzed. It is not updated between releases.

Sample: 601 Facebook brand pages and 374 Instagram brand profiles in the electronics category in Latin America, July 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2026.

Reporting period: Monthly metrics are reported for September 2026, the final month of the quarter, and trend commentary covers July 2025 through September 2026. The ads trend series also covers July 2025 through September 2026.

Minimum thresholds: Reports require a minimum of 50 Instagram profiles and 50 Facebook pages for a given region and industry combination. Interaction distribution data requires a minimum of 300 profiles. Ad benchmarks require a minimum of 200 active ad accounts from the region or industry.

Key definitions

  • Interactions (Facebook): Sum of all reactions (Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sorry, Anger), comments and shares on brand-published posts. Care reactions are counted under Likes.
  • Interactions (Instagram): Sum of likes, comments, saves, shares and reposts on brand-published posts. Saves, shares and reposts are counted from Q3 2026.
  • Median post interactions: The middle-ranked page or profile when sorted by monthly post interactions. It represents typical performance rather than an average, so outliers don’t skew the figure.
  • Relative median interactions: Median interactions indexed to the maximum value in the reporting period for each platform, expressed as a percentage. Useful for comparing direction across platforms at different absolute scales.
  • Impressions: The number of times a post was displayed, whether or not anyone interacted with it. Reflects visibility rather than engagement.
  • Engagement rate: Interactions divided by impressions, expressed as a percentage. From Q3 2026 the rate is based on impressions instead of reach, because Facebook no longer provides reach data, so it is not comparable with earlier quarters.
  • Organic: Posts not paid to be promoted, detected using Emplifi’s internal algorithm with near-100% accuracy.
  • CPC / CPM: Median cost per click and cost per thousand impressions across all available ad accounts, shown for the top five placements by relative spend.
  • Relative spend: Normalized distribution (%) showing the average share of an account’s budget allocated to each placement.
  • CTR: Median click-through rate for the top five placements by relative spend.

All costs are in USD. All figures are medians unless otherwise noted; UGC uplifts are averages. Data is first normalized at the profile or page level before aggregation.
