Electronics retailers social media benchmarks for Q3 2026 show Instagram ending the quarter at a 15-month high: the median electronics retailer’s Instagram post earned 24 interactions in September, against six on Facebook. Median engagement reached up to 0.72% on Instagram and up to 0.19% on Facebook across the quarter. Reels led on Instagram, and Live Video drew far more interactions than any other Facebook format.
This quarterly benchmarks report draws on Emplifi’s dataset of 1,070 Facebook pages and 419 Instagram profiles in the worldwide electronics retailers category, covering July 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2026.
Brands using Emplifi’s UGC solution saw these average uplifts in Q3 2026:
The figures come from Emplifi’s Worldwide Brands UGC benchmark, averaged across 68 to 83 accounts per metric. That benchmark covers brands in every category, so it is not specific to electronics retailers.
Retail, the category electronics retailers belong to in this breakdown, publishes more brand posts on Facebook than any other category (11.6%) but collects only 3.5% of interactions, the fifth-largest share shown. Ecommerce leads Facebook with 31.3%. On Instagram, retail posts 7.1% of brand content for 3.5% of interactions, outside the top five, while fashion takes 40.4%.

Instagram spent most of the period between 18 and 21 interactions per post, then rose to 24 in September 2026, its best month. Facebook moved between seven and eight until April 2026 and has been at six or seven since.
Instagram finished September 2026 at its peak (100%). Facebook was at 75% of its earlier high, the bottom of its 15-month range.
Impressions count how often posts were displayed, whether or not anyone interacted. They measure visibility, not engagement.

Instagram impressions swung widely. They peaked at 7,799 in October 2025, fell to 2,296 by February 2026 and have moved between about 2,400 and 3,400 since. Facebook rose to 5,514 in January 2026, then declined to 1,359 in September, its lowest point. The Facebook decline matches a broader trend: median Facebook impressions for brands worldwide fell from about 1,500 to 779 over the 15 months.
Median post engagement rates this quarter:
Across the quarter, Instagram’s monthly median ranged from 0.64% to 0.72% and Facebook’s from 0.13% to 0.19%. Both series are volatile for this smaller category: Instagram peaked at 1.00% in February 2026, and Facebook reached 0.28% in May 2026 before falling to its 15-month low in August.
From this quarter, Emplifi calculates engagement rate from impressions instead of reach, because Facebook no longer provides reach data. These rates are therefore not comparable with the engagement rates in earlier quarterly reports.
Facebook: Live Video earned a median of 43.5 interactions, about five times link posts (nine), the next best format. It is rare, at 0.4% of electronics retailers’ Facebook posts in September. Status updates (eight) and Reels (seven) beat photos, which earned three despite being two thirds of all posts.
Instagram: Reels led with a median of 28.5 interactions, carousels followed at 25.5, and single images earned 15.
