What’s in this report

Electronics social media benchmarks for Q3 2026 show both platforms reaching their best engagement rates of the past 15 months: median engagement reached up to 1.75% on Instagram and up to 0.63% on Facebook. Interactions tell a different story. The median electronics brand’s Instagram post earned 31 interactions in September, the bottom of its range, and Facebook fell to seven. Carousels were the strongest Instagram format.

This quarterly benchmarks report draws on Emplifi’s dataset of 5,847 Facebook pages and 3,229 Instagram profiles in the worldwide electronics category, covering July 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2026.

User-generated content: what’s achievable

Brands using Emplifi’s UGC solution saw these average uplifts in Q3 2026:

  • 11.49x conversion rate
  • 4.84x repeat website visits
  • 1.03x average order value

The figures come from Emplifi’s Worldwide Brands UGC benchmark, averaged across 68 to 83 accounts per metric. That benchmark covers brands in every category, so it is not specific to electronics.

Organic performance: Facebook and Instagram

Interaction share by industry

Electronics earns more than its share of the conversation on Facebook: it publishes 4.0% of brand posts and collects 6.8% of interactions, third among the categories broken out in the data, behind ecommerce and finance. On Instagram it is the other way round, with 3.9% of posts and 2.9% of interactions in a feed led by fashion and beauty.

Facebook interaction distribution (Q3 2026):

Category Share of total interactions
Ecommerce 31.3%
Finance 7.8%
Electronics 6.8%
Services 4.8%
Auto 4.1%
Others 45.3%

Instagram interaction distribution (Q3 2026):

Category Share of total interactions
Fashion 40.4%
Beauty 13.5%
Ecommerce 8.3%
Sporting goods 7.4%
Auto 5.1%
Others 25.1%

Listed are the region’s six highest-posting categories plus electronics, ranked by share of interactions. Others combines every remaining category.

Platform landscape at a glance

Electronics brands have audiences of similar size on both platforms. Instagram profiles post a little more often and collect almost five times the interactions of Facebook pages over the quarter.

Metric Instagram Facebook
Median followers / fans 48,030 51,395
Median posts published (quarter) 41 34
Median total interactions (quarter) 2,503 514

Median post interactions

The median follows the middle-ranked page or profile each month, so the biggest global tech brands don’t set it.

Platform Q3 2026 median post interactions
Instagram 31
Facebook 7

Instagram has eased gently, from 36 in July 2025 to 31 in September 2026, a level it also touched in March and June. Facebook held at 10 to 11 interactions through April 2026, then slipped month by month to seven, its lowest point of the period.

Relative median post interactions

Instagram ended September 2026 at 86% of its July 2025 peak and Facebook at 64%, both at the low point of their 15-month ranges.

Median post impressions

Impressions count how often posts were displayed, whether or not anyone interacted. They measure visibility, not engagement.

Platform Q3 2026 median post impressions
Instagram 1,826
Facebook 1,166

Both series have roughly halved from their highs. Instagram peaked at 3,484 in October 2025, dropped below 2,100 in January 2026 and has moved between about 1,700 and 2,200 since. Facebook held near 2,200 through 2025, then declined through 2026 to 1,166 in September. Median impressions for brands worldwide fell on both platforms over the same period, so the decline is not specific to electronics.

Engagement rate trends

Median post engagement rates this quarter:

  • Instagram: up to 1.75%
  • Facebook: up to 0.63%

Instagram’s monthly median ranged from 1.54% to 1.75% across the quarter, and Facebook’s from 0.60% to 0.63%. Instagram’s rate climbed from a low of 0.94% in November 2025, with the biggest gains between December 2025 and April 2026. Facebook’s rate moved within a narrow 0.52% to 0.63% band, ending at the top of it. With interactions per post flat or falling, the higher rates mostly reflect fewer impressions per post rather than more interactions.

From this quarter, Emplifi calculates engagement rate from impressions instead of reach, because Facebook no longer provides reach data. These rates are therefore not comparable with the engagement rates in earlier quarterly reports.

Best-performing post types

Facebook: Live Video led at a median of 15 interactions, and electronics brands use it more than once in every 200 posts (0.6% in September). Links earned eight, while photos and Reels earned six each and status updates five.

Instagram: Carousels led with a median of 40.5 interactions, about a quarter more than Reels (32) and almost double single images (21).

Photos fell from 62.6% to 54.4%, and status updates almost disappeared, from 5.7% to 1.5%. On Instagram, Reels grew from 43.2% to 46.5% of posts and carousels from 21.1% to 23.5%, while single images fell from 33.6% to 28.0%.

How to use these benchmarks

Use these medians to calibrate an electronics brand’s social program. Compare your own September 2026 figures with:

  • Median post interactions
  • Median post impressions
  • Median engagement rate
  • Post type mix

On Instagram, carousels outperform Reels and images, which suits product comparisons and feature breakdowns. On Facebook, Live Video and link posts beat the photos and Reels that make up most of the feed, so test them for launches and offers.

Methodology

This report is produced quarterly from Emplifi’s proprietary social media dataset, drawn from the platform used by more than 22,000 brands worldwide.

Data collection: Data is pulled once per quarter and reflects the state of Emplifi’s database at the start of the quarter following the period analyzed. It is not updated between releases.

Sample: 5,847 Facebook brand pages and 3,229 Instagram brand profiles in the worldwide electronics category, July 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2026.

Reporting period: Monthly metrics are reported for September 2026, the final month of the quarter, and trend commentary covers July 2025 through September 2026. The ads trend series also covers July 2025 through September 2026.

Minimum thresholds: Reports require a minimum of 50 Instagram profiles and 50 Facebook pages for a given region and industry combination. Interaction distribution data requires a minimum of 300 profiles. Ad benchmarks require a minimum of 200 active ad accounts from the region or industry.

Key definitions

  • Interactions (Facebook): Sum of all reactions (Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sorry, Anger), comments and shares on brand-published posts. Care reactions are counted under Likes.
  • Interactions (Instagram): Sum of likes, comments, saves, shares and reposts on brand-published posts. Saves, shares and reposts are counted from Q3 2026.
  • Median post interactions: The middle-ranked page or profile when sorted by monthly post interactions. It represents typical performance rather than an average, so outliers don’t skew the figure.
  • Relative median interactions: Median interactions indexed to the maximum value in the reporting period for each platform, expressed as a percentage. Useful for comparing direction across platforms at different absolute scales.
  • Impressions: The number of times a post was displayed, whether or not anyone interacted with it. Reflects visibility rather than engagement.
  • Engagement rate: Interactions divided by impressions, expressed as a percentage. From Q3 2026 the rate is based on impressions instead of reach, because Facebook no longer provides reach data, so it is not comparable with earlier quarters.
  • Organic: Posts not paid to be promoted, detected using Emplifi’s internal algorithm with near-100% accuracy.
  • CPC / CPM: Median cost per click and cost per thousand impressions across all available ad accounts, shown for the top five placements by relative spend.
  • Relative spend: Normalized distribution (%) showing the average share of an account’s budget allocated to each placement.
  • CTR: Median click-through rate for the top five placements by relative spend.

All costs are in USD. All figures are medians unless otherwise noted; UGC uplifts are averages. Data is first normalized at the profile or page level before aggregation.
