What’s in this report

Middle East Markets FMCG food social media benchmarks for Q3 2026 show Instagram earning twice Facebook’s interactions per post: the median FMCG food brand in Middle East Markets earned 18 interactions per Instagram post in September and nine per Facebook post. Reels were the top Facebook format and carousels the top Instagram format, and dairy brand Nada appeared in the top three on both platforms.

This quarterly benchmarks report draws on Emplifi’s dataset of 221 Facebook pages and 172 Instagram profiles of FMCG food brands in Middle East Markets, covering July 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2026.

User-generated content: what’s achievable

Brands using Emplifi’s UGC solution saw these average uplifts in Q3 2026:

  • 11.49x conversion rate
  • 4.84x repeat website visits
  • 1.03x average order value

The figures come from Emplifi’s Worldwide Brands UGC benchmark, averaged across 68 to 83 accounts per metric. That benchmark covers brands in every category and region, so it is not specific to FMCG food or to Middle East Markets.

Organic performance: Facebook and Instagram

Interaction share by industry

Industrial and airlines brands take about 90% of Facebook brand interactions in Middle East Markets, and airlines lead Instagram with 36.3%. FMCG food publishes 4.9% of Facebook brand posts but draws 0.3% of interactions; on Instagram it takes 0.1% of interactions from 1.0% of posts.

Facebook interaction distribution (Q3 2026):

Category Share of total interactions
Industrial 48.4%
Airlines 42.0%
Telecom 5.1%
Services 1.4%
Finance 0.7%
Others 2.4%

The categories listed are those with the most interactions among the region’s most active publishers. Others combines every remaining category, FMCG food included.

Platform landscape at a glance

The median FMCG food page in Middle East Markets has about 1.5 times the followers of the median Instagram profile. Instagram profiles post more often, about two to three times a week, and collected about three times the interactions over the quarter.

Metric Instagram Facebook
Median followers / fans 33,620 50,100
Median posts published (quarter) 32.5 27
Median total interactions (quarter) 1,164 379

Median post interactions

This metric follows the middle-ranked page or profile each month, so a handful of viral accounts can’t inflate it.

Platform Q3 2026 median post interactions
Instagram 18
Facebook 9

Facebook has been steady, moving between 8.5 and 11 for the whole period. Instagram held between 19 and 24 until August 2026, peaking in February 2026, then fell to 18 in September, its lowest point in the period.

Relative median post interactions

Indexing each platform to its own 15-month peak makes the two easier to compare despite their different scales.

Facebook finished September 2026 at 82% of its peak. Instagram ended at 75% of its February 2026 high, the lowest reading for either platform in the period.

Median post impressions

Impressions count how often posts were displayed, whether or not anyone interacted. They measure visibility, not engagement.

Emplifi’s dataset has too few FMCG food profiles in Middle East Markets with impression data this quarter, so the impressions below are the Asia FMCG food medians.

Platform Q3 2026 median post impressions (Asia FMCG food)
Instagram 1,978
Facebook 1,286

In the Asia FMCG food series, Instagram impressions are about 40% of their October 2025 peak of 4,915, with the steepest fall between October 2025 and January 2026. Facebook impressions moved between about 1,150 and 2,930 over the 15 months and ended September at 1,286.

Engagement rate trends

Emplifi’s dataset has too few FMCG food profiles in Middle East Markets with impression data this quarter, so the engagement rates below are the Asia FMCG food medians.

Median post engagement rates this quarter (Asia FMCG food):

  • Instagram: up to 1.88%
  • Facebook: up to 0.37%

Across the quarter’s three months, the Instagram median ranged from 1.65% to 1.88% and the Facebook median from 0.20% to 0.37%, with Facebook at 0.20% in September. The Instagram rate more than doubled between November 2025 and March 2026, from 0.80% to 1.98%. The Facebook rate is down from 0.68% in July 2025.

From this quarter, Emplifi calculates engagement rate from impressions instead of reach, because Facebook no longer provides reach data. These rates are therefore not comparable with the engagement rates in earlier quarterly reports.

Best-performing post types

Facebook: Reels led with a median of 10 interactions per post, ahead of Live Video at eight and status updates at 7.5. Photos, still the most-used format, earned six.

Instagram: Carousels led with a median of 25, ahead of Reels at 22 and single images at 15, although carousels are by far the least-used format.

CPC and CPM by placement

The most cost-efficient placements this quarter:

  • Lowest CPC: Facebook feed, Facebook Reels and Instagram feed
  • Lowest CPM: Facebook feed, Facebook Reels and Instagram feed

Instagram Stories has the highest CPM, $1.82, and Instagram Reels the highest CPC, $2.16.

Facebook feed 38.29 0.32 1.34
Instagram feed 15.95 1.56 1.59

CTR by placement (Q3 2026):

Placement CTR (%)
Facebook feed 0.31
Facebook Reels 0.15
Instagram Stories 0.09
Instagram feed 0.08
Instagram Reels 0.05

Cost trends over time

The data has no separate Middle East Markets series for ad cost trends this quarter, so the table compares the FMCG food benchmark with Emplifi’s all-brands benchmark, which also pools ad accounts across all regions. Figures are for September 2026 with the quarter’s monthly range:

Metric FMCG food benchmark All-brands benchmark
CPM (USD) 1.03 (0.92 to 1.03) 2.09 (1.83 to 2.09)
CTR (%) 0.27 (0.25 to 0.27) 1.13 (1.06 to 1.13)

FMCG food ads cost about half as much per thousand impressions as the all-brands benchmark but draw a much lower CTR. FMCG food CPM moved between $0.84 and $1.15 over the 15 months, peaking in November 2025, and its CTR between 0.21% and 0.29%. All-brands CTR rose from 0.86% in July 2025 to 1.13% in September 2026, its highest point. No monthly CPC series is available.

How to use these benchmarks

Treat these medians as a calibration point for FMCG food brands in Middle East Markets, not a ceiling. Pull the same measures for your own Facebook and Instagram profiles and set them against the September 2026 figures above:

  • Median post interactions
  • Median post impressions
  • Median engagement rate
  • Post type mix

Keep the region’s own interaction medians as the main yardstick, since the impressions and engagement rates in this report are Asia FMCG food figures. On Instagram, test more carousels; on Facebook, keep shifting photo volume toward Reels.

Methodology

This report is produced quarterly from Emplifi’s proprietary social media dataset, drawn from the platform used by more than 22,000 brands worldwide.

Data collection: Data is pulled once per quarter and reflects the state of Emplifi’s database at the start of the quarter following the period analyzed. It is not updated between releases.

Sample: 221 Facebook brand pages and 172 Instagram brand profiles of FMCG food brands in Middle East Markets, July 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2026. Median post impressions and engagement rates use the Asia FMCG food series, because the regional sample with impression data was too small this quarter.

Reporting period: Monthly metrics are reported for September 2026, the final month of the quarter, and trend commentary covers July 2025 through September 2026. The ads trend series also covers July 2025 through September 2026.

Minimum thresholds: Reports require a minimum of 50 Instagram profiles and 50 Facebook pages for a given region and industry combination. Interaction distribution data requires a minimum of 300 profiles. Ad benchmarks require a minimum of 200 active ad accounts from the region or industry.

Key definitions

  • Interactions (Facebook): Sum of all reactions (Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sorry, Anger), comments and shares on brand-published posts. Care reactions are counted under Likes.
  • Interactions (Instagram): Sum of likes, comments, saves, shares and reposts on brand-published posts. Saves, shares and reposts are counted from Q3 2026.
  • Median post interactions: The middle-ranked page or profile when sorted by monthly post interactions. It represents typical performance rather than an average, so outliers don’t skew the figure.
  • Relative median interactions: Median interactions indexed to the maximum value in the reporting period for each platform, expressed as a percentage. Useful for comparing direction across platforms at different absolute scales.
  • Impressions: The number of times a post was displayed, whether or not anyone interacted with it. Reflects visibility rather than engagement.
  • Engagement rate: Interactions divided by impressions, expressed as a percentage. From Q3 2026 the rate is based on impressions instead of reach, because Facebook no longer provides reach data, so it is not comparable with earlier quarters.
  • Organic: Posts not paid to be promoted, detected using Emplifi’s internal algorithm with near-100% accuracy.
  • CPC / CPM: Median cost per click and cost per thousand impressions across all available ad accounts, shown for the top five placements by relative spend.
  • Relative spend: Normalized distribution (%) showing the average share of an account’s budget allocated to each placement.
  • CTR: Median click-through rate for the top five placements by relative spend.

All costs are in USD. All figures are medians unless otherwise noted; UGC uplifts are averages. Data is first normalized at the profile or page level before aggregation.
